I still can't beleive that my utilities have to be paid for the same day as my rent to the apartment complex. They use a company called Ista. my utilities are always close to 200.00. Even when I was out of town for 2 weeks, nothing running in my apartment, my bill was the same. Other than that, I like me apartment. They were built way to fast, but I like the location and the layout of my apartment. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l

Yeah, and what about the fees they charge you to give you a bill. Ridiculous. Our rent is 1200 instead of the stupid 800 that was agreed on in the contract.

I live there too and what you are failing to communicate is that your utilities are being billed for water, sewer, and electric. Most communities don't bill for electric. Of course in the winter months your electric bill is going to be a little higher and all utility companies charge a utility fee. GA Power, Bellsouth, and all utility companies charge a monthly service fee. The apartments are individually submetered so you are only charged on your actual usage. If you turn your heat off, then back on ... it takes more energy. It takes one hour per degree to heat back up. It is better to set your thermostat to a comfortable degree and leave it there. Only changing setting by a few degrees at most, when you will be away for a while. You should contact the office or ISTA (utl billing co.) if you have a problem. Not write a comment on here ... what good does that do! I have found my utility bills to be normal and I like the convenience of paying everything at once with my rent. They did tell you that up front before you leased and you chose to lease with those conditions.

I wonder which of the previous responses is from Amli staff? I am having the same problem with utilities. We all know that Ista is just a billing company that comes out and check the meter. If you do call, as I have, they will tell you to contact Amli because all they do is read the meter and pass it along. Amli also claimed to have checked my meter and there is no malfunction. I have had GA power at my previous apartment (not an Amli apartment) and it was NEVER as high as the bills I get from Amli. In my previous aparment my utilities including water, sewer, and electric was always under $100 - mind you with the AC running all day and night and a washer and dryer. The reason I post this information is to warn others, so they can make an informed decision before moving to Amli at N. Briarcliff. If there are enough comments about this problem maybe Amli or the corporate office will try to fix the problem.

My roomate and I lived in N. Briarcliff AMLI in 2007 and the bills ARE STRANGE. When we moved in the power didn't go through Ista. After we had lived there for a few months they changed and informed us that our power "would now be included in the rent," failing to mention the $15 "convenience fee." Convenient? We paid them $15 a month free money so they could include some wierd amount of usage and a higher price every month. Even though it was a policy that came after our lease we were not allowed to opt-out, either. The office there is full of phoney smiling faces- best bet is not to move there...too much money for a lot of b.s. Oh, and if you do decide to lease don't chose building 5. There's a man-made swamp back there and if you're on the ground level you're in for some new bug friends; it's got a big sewer shooting up out of the middle too- not very nice to look out at from your patio (some units are only 5 ft from the edge).
