Terrible first experience in Atlana

My roomate and I lived in N. Briarcliff AMLI in 2007 and the bills ARE STRANGE. When we moved in the power didn't go through Ista (their billing company). After we had lived there for a few months they changed and informed us that our power bill would now be included in the rent, failing to mention the $15 "convenience fee." Convenient' We paid them $15/month free money so they could include some wierd amount of usage and a higher price every month. Even though it was a policy that came after our lease was signed we were not allowed to opt-out, either. The office there is full of phoney smiling faces- best bet is not to move there...too much money for a lot of b.s.

Oh, and if you do decide to lease don't chose building 5. There's a huge man-made sewer drainage swamp back there! If you're on the ground level you're in for some new bug friends and a great conversation topic when entertaining guests.. it's got a big sewer shooting straight up out of the middle, seriously - not very nice to look out at from your patio (some units are only 5 ft from the fenced edge).

The leasing office people deserve one more: as seems to be the case with many apartment complexes, they are SUPER nice when you move in and then it is like they don't know you. We complained about people upstairs making noise once- big mistake. Instead of fixing the problem they told the resident that we had been complaining and caused a feud between us and the neighbor! Trash would be dropped from their patio onto ours all the time after that. Don't ever try to defend yourself with them, either.. they will talk down to you and make you feel like a child.

When we moved out extra effort was taken on our part to clean the apartment to "like new" condition. The "inspector" was a real jerk and seemed irritated that there was no reason not to give us our deposit back- he tried to blame us for carpet damage that had been there since we moved in- After 13 months it was still messed up from day one. When we moved there they said "we can try to fix it but if we can't, don't worry- you're not responsible." Good thing they honored that! He then proceeded to inform us that "we weren't out of the woods yet," it turns out that one of the bathrooms was "filthy" and they stuck us with a $10 fee! HAHA AMLI hope you didn't spend it all in one place!

And last, but certainly not least, there is some serious crime going on over there. In our year-and-a-month we received 5 or 6 notices from the office and Dekalb police stating that there had been a number of break-ins in the complex and to make sure we locked all of our doors and windows! A car was stolen once and many were broken into. There are many slummy apartments in close proximity and you may be surprised at some of the characters walking around!
