I used this site extensively when looking for apartments so I decided to write a lengthy honest review on my current and soon to be former home.
MOVE IN
Move in process was difficult as the Management is generally a pain to deal with. They had me running back and forth as they can only accept one check, couldn't get their online system to work, etc. If you live in building 8 there is no way to get a moving truck up the parking deck, expect to be hauling your stuff up flights of stairs.
APARTMENT
The apartment looks nice, smells nice, and I've honestly experienced few pest problems, leaks, or faulty appliances. Any time I've had a problem it has been fixed quickly. However, the carpet and counters are a complete rip-off. You will notice black spots appearing on the carpet soon after moving in. I've shared this observation with other tenants. This is due to the SUPER CHEAP CRAPPY carpet they use and replace after every tenant leaves. Expect to be charged for everything, they will take you for every dime they can get from fingerprints on the windows, to stains on the sink.
PARKING
Parking is not bad, always adequate spaces in a covered lot. Watch out though, My car has been dinged a bit from doors, and drunks hitting it. There has also been reports of several car break ins. Don't ever leave anything valuable in your car.
COMMUNITY / LOCATION
This is an odd complex. It seems to attract older couples and young couples with children, there are not a lot of young single people here. I think a major reason why more people don't renew here is the few bad apples the complex lets in are SO bad, you can't fathom another year. Don't get me wrong, they are few and far between but there are some gang bangers, illegals, and general deviants among you. For about three months I had a family of 8 and their two dogs (dogs aren't allowed in this building) living next to me in a 1 bedroom apartment. AMLI needs to up their standards in background checks for the rent you are expected to pay. The trash situation is stupid, they have two compactors, both far away from anywhere you would ever need to go. Expect a five minute walk to take the trash out. (complex down the street that costs less monthly has valet trash pickup) Keep your Gym membership. The gym is ok, but usually crowded and people steal the workout equipment. As for the location, I wouldn't classify this as a "bad area". Across the interstate is SCARY VILLE but on the east side of 85 lies the publix shopping center and briarcliff road. However, you will see some bad dudes walking down the access road and outside the complex.
RENT
The rent is a little overpriced. When I moved in the rate I negotiated was close to fair but should have been about $150 cheaper a month for what you get. DO NOT let Amli do your utility billing it is a scam! They charge you a $15 service fee (even in the first month when your total bill is like $9 because you pay everything a month behind) and I'm not sure the totals they give are accurate. The building I live in is half empty thanks to their rent renewal. Don't plan on living here longer than a year. My rent was raised from $1040 a month to $1250. Did I get any added benefit' NO. Could I find a much better/safer place to live for that extra $200 a month' YES!
CRIME
The crime rate in this area is high. You will see many suspicious people outside the complex who you don't want to run into at night, there have been a lot of break ins, and I had to chase a child (12 year old) out of my apartment once when I was grilling, he saw me leave to cook, luckily I forgot a tray, came back and there he was trying to steal my xbox 360, he took off and jumped the back fence, luckily dropping the xbox on the way out.
NOISE
This is the breaking point for AMLI. It is generally a quiet community. Seriously, you don't have the loud parties found in many other complexes but Do NOT under any circumstances live in Building 8. You will hear every move your upstairs neighbor makes and the best part.. the entire complex is built around a pool, so you have a pool view outside your bedroom/living room.. cool right' WRONG. DEAD WRONG.
Those bad apples I was talking about' They love to sit outside smoking on their balcony yapping on their cellphone. They obliviously didn't learn about acoustics as a semi circle with a pool around it ensures you get to hear every word they say. LOUD and clear, this goes on at all hours, and usually late at night, it will wake you up out of a deep sleep and allow you not to be able to fall back asleep. Think you can call a courtesy officer' HA! You can leave a message and the management office will call you the next day! Think you can be civilized and go outside and ask them to be quiet' Ha! I laugh when new tenants try to do this. They get threatened, cursed at, and a week ago, one of the "bad apples" filled a trash can up with water, placed it against the complaining tenants door (which opens to the inside) and when he left for work... SPLASH! Yeah!
You also get to hear the "Marco Polo" kids. There is a group of kids that shows up around 12/1/2 am on WEEKNIGHTS playing Marco Polo in the pool, ask them to be quiet' Their mom screams at you (obvious METH HEAD)
Oh and the SPADES crew, they show up late at night, playing spades or poker, drinking, yelling at the pool and one time I heard a courtesy officer approach them, they told him to leave in a threatening manner, and sure enough, he did.
MANAGEMENT
I can't think of anything good to say. Seriously, the underlings are ok to deal with as they really don't make any decisions but the community manager' Wow, I think she is a former ----. One of the most unprofessional, rude, sick individuals I've ever had the displeasure to deal with. I hope she gets herpes.
MOVE OUT
Expect to be charged no less than $500 when you move out. I've talked to other former tenants and this is the norm. I am a neat freak and I am replacing carpet (see above) counter tops, doors, floors, etc. RIP OFF.
Recommend'
I would not recommend this apartment unless you are like me and have three days to find someplace to live before starting a new job in a new town. There have to be nicer places for $1100 per month.

lol Oh man...hilarious, yet so informative. I can't thank you enough for this review. I was almost sold when I saw their site and how nicely and convincingly they sell their service. Considering I'm in another state and don't have the luxury of going back and forth from MN to GA just to check Apts, I have to rely on whats available online and reviews like this. Guess I'll continue browsing Rent.com.
Thanks again for the entertainingly funny review.
p.s. If you've found any decent places that you'd like to recommend, let me know.
