It's okay but not worth the trouble

So I've been living here at Amli for 5 months and some of the reviews posted here are horrible and scary but I wouldn't doubt them to be true. I must live in some bubble world. I live in the old phase and as far as I see, I'm honestly okay but not ecstatic to still be living here.
The parking's good, there's always places to park in front of my building. However, if you live in a building where the best parking is on the street, then you have a problem because I've come in on late nights (12 or something) and notice people parking in places that aren't parking spots at all(on the curb in front of a building or in the car care spot). That's how crowded it is. So it's all about what apartment you decide to choose when it comes to that.
The noise is a bit ridiculous. Like you'll hear music bumping in the night but again that's if you live near that person. I don't so I feel the bumping but it's not enough to disturb/annoy me in any way. I used to live in the dorms so I've had worse. I can hear people talking outside my door but only briefly until they go inside their apt. I can also here the girl in the heels/guy in the dress shoes who likes to walk across the hardwood floors early in the morning. However, I don't have a problem with that stuff. I go to sleep fine and am not awoken in the middle of the night. On the other hand, I feel for those people that do live close to that unnecessarily loud music and I'd go crazy if I did have to deal with that bs. The only thing I cared about was that it was quiet during my finals week. It was, I did great, and so I am happy.
The landscape is okay. Haha, when I first got here, I was all excited and ish about the pools and fitness centers and the bridge over the nasty-looking, nearly empty creek. Now I could care less. It's all right, nothing award winning.
How safe I feel on a scale from 0 to 10, 10 being safest. I'd give it a 1. Honestly, I make sure that the balcony's locked, the front door locked up and still fear about being intruded on. I deal with that because I don't have anywhere near the amount of money needed to break lease. AND THIS IS DURING THE DAY. I don't even want to talk about the nighttime. For example, me and my 2 friends have a system. If we absolutely have to do something outside at night like taking out the trash. Two of us go outside and stake out on top of the car garage to overlook and 1 goes to the trash, yelling back and forth to make sure the others are okay. *And I promise you as I'm writing this review, the guy/chick with the heels walks across the floor upstairs* I just try not to do things at night by myself. I think just this morning around 12am, I went outside to get a frosty. I hopped in my car, started it and didn't even let it warm up, I was off. It's just this kind of anxiety I get. I've never had to deal with what others have posted about (car break-ins, apt break-ins and much more). I have gotten the numerous notices though and the one about the rent box being broken into is true. Happened on the 2nd. I didn't deposit anything so I didn't have to call the office and don't know what went on afterward but I feel bad for anyone that did. I don't know about the shady characters. I haven't seen anyone walking around in the dead of night unless they're walking their dog or couples going to their car. Nobody except the man looking for his cat have ever approached me for anything. My neighbors are cool, the people who live across from us were nice and introduced themselves the 1st couple of days me and my roommate moved in. I just never dealt with those problems that others have and am very thankful for that.
The apt (old phase) itself is nice. I enjoy having such a large bathroom and closet and so does my roommate as they have a ton of clothes too. The kitchen is tiny, at least when one person is trying to cook and the other wash dishes at the same time. The cabinet doors are worn and the sink is also small. However, everything in there functions so I don't complain. My A/c and heat both work, haven't had problems with that. What drew me to the place was the hardwood floors, low maintenance but has its downside (hearing other people walk around in other apts). My apt is okay, nothing to rave about.
Maintenance is good. I call, they come next day. I usually used to call about bugs. I had everything: silverfish, spiders, roaches, and huge beetle/roach bugs. Good thing is, I only saw 1 of every one on the list. When I called maintanence, my problem was close to being perfectly fixed. I happen to think it helped that I sprayed the balcony and outside my door with raid, but I'm not sure. The maintanence guys are very helpful too. I was having a gnat problem. They were everywhere. There were days I counted 10 that I killed and I realized there were still more. The very first pest guy I had come about that gave me great advice to pour a capful of bleach down the sinkdrains after putting dishes to wash. After doing that for 2 days, they diminished until about the 5th day when they were completely gone. I am forever grateful to that guy as there were times when I wouldn't sleep in my own apt because of those bugs.
Onto the staff...Well, they're nice to me but I've never gone in there to talk to them about a problem I needed them to fix so maybe I haven't seen the dark/evil side. However a friend of mine did make me come to the realization: they want and will take your money. My friend was going to move in to the apts after I did and he put the deposit down but was basically approved and Amli was waiting on his bank statements. While he was getting that stuff together, he was still thinking about another place he really liked and decided that he didn't want to be at Amli. He went to them to get his deposit back and surprise, surprise they said that it was in the lease he signed that they keep that if he were to change his mind. However, he read over the lease and found that the lease was only non-refundable if he wasn't pre-approved are something to that effect. So he went to the Better Business Bureau and then over them to Amli Corporate until he finally got his check in the mail a week or 2 later. I was upset for him that they wouldn't read over the lease to see if there was any way he COULD get his money back, instead they just said "well...you're screwed". So believe me people, the same staff that smiles in your face will do what they can to take your money. I haven't moved out yet to know whether they take your security deposit no matter what. It upset me at first but now I'm like screw it, that just means less cleaning for me and I'd advise others to do the same. Don't break your back over that.
Overall, I don't recommend this community to anyone, under no circumstances. I mean I'm staying because I have to. Haha, that should tell you something. I'd suggest other places. I'm going to check out Bexley and Bellingham both in Marietta. I haven't seen these places yet but their pictures online and $800 rent for 2bdr/2bath are making them contenders for my next apt home. I am moving when my lease is up and will be so happy when it is. The rent is too high here at Amli for all this crap you have to put up with.
