My personal utility experience was a nightmare. They gave us a website to sign up for our utils, which did not list any cable options. After a call to the office, we discovered that our ONLY option is a company by the name of SouthEastern Broadband. It seems to me that because they're the only option, they can charge whatever they want for whatever reason. For example, to get Dish Network through them (which they claim to match prices and policies with) it costs 45 to install (Dish is free), you have to sign a 18 month contract (you have the option at no extra charge to not sign a contract w/ Dish), and you have to pay an additional 12 dollars a month on top of what you pay normally for Dish. So lets do some math, shall we' You take out a year lease w/ Alta Inman. You sign SEBroadband's contract for Dish. So that's 6 additional months you won't be using (their basic offer is around 40 a month). So that's 6 * 40 for the six months you don't use (240) plus 12 a month times 18 months (216) plus the 50 installation fee. That's $506 ADDITIONAL to what you would normally pay for SEBroadband to just connect some cables to your box at the beginning of your lease. I really wish I wouldn't have spent the 5,500 in HD TVs before I moved in. I can't seem to justify $506 more than market cost for a year worth of TV.
