I moved in because we got a great deal on a 3/3 penthouse unit ($1,650/month) which included 2 garage spaces. I had the master suite which was actually 3 huge rooms plus a big bathroom, so I was happy with the space. However, when we moved in to our apartment, we had a list two pages long of things that needed to be done. It was obvious they had not even done a walk-through after the previous resident moved out. There were doors missing, broken blinds, colored wax on the carpeting, and so on. When we gave our deposit, we were told this was a gated community, however they did not fix the gates until 8 months into our 12 month lease. It took almost three months of repeated phone calls and letters before the apartment was at move-in condition. One Sunday I discovered my bathroom sink was leaking and had ruined a good amount of my items. I called maintenance to get the leak fixed and the guy who wa son duty made me wait until the Falcons game ended. Hello'! This is your job, you get free rent, and the Falcons are lousy! The property was dirty and the management never seemed to care about you as long as you paid your rent. A guy below me liked to play Metallica at 1-3am every night and my calls to management did no good. I had to call the police to have anything done. The residents there were an ecclectic mix of people I would not choose to live close to. Many were involved in unlawful lines of business. People would park wherever they wanted (including fire lanes) and management did nothing about it. The dumpster was usually overflowing and smelled horrible. This was my first place in Atlanta and now I know that there was a reason why the rest was so cheap. If you can afford a nicer place, do it.
