Stay Away!

Before moving in I was given a story about how these were luxury apartments, in a safe gated community.

Later I found out that these were sub-standard apartments, and that Section 8 housing was accepted.

The gate only worked an average of one day a week.

There were always rowdy teenagers roaming the area, and I did not feel safe going out by myself at any time.

It was nearly impossible to even speak to anyone in the maintenance department, let alone get anything repaired.

I was not told until after I had already moved out that maintenance requests needed to be made in writing.

On four different occasions, the apartment flooded.

The first three times, the carpet pad was replaced, but not the carpet, so there was substantial water damage.

The fourth time, no one would even return my calls.

And to top it all off, after I gave 30 days notice, and moved, a month AFTER I had vacated the apartment, I was told that I needed to continue paying rent, until they found a new tenant for the apartment.

And then a week after that I received an eviction notice! They did un-evict me pretty quick, but someone had actually gone through the trouble of going down to the Fulton County courthouse to file a complaint that I had stopped paying rent.

I learned later that the apartment was re-rented about six weeks after I had moved out, and when I asked when I was going to receive official notice of that (because it’s illegal to double rent the same unit) I was told that they were not going to notify me.

I am paying LESS now on mortgage payments for a 3 bedroom home with nearly an acre of land in a very safe, quiet neighborhood.

If I had known earlier how expensive it was to rent an apartment, I would have bought my house a long time ago.
