Azalea Park was my first apartment in ATL & looked like a nice affordable place to be upon first viewing. The apartments are very spacious and you get your monies worth on that end.
Aside from the square footage, there's really nothing else positive to list.
*Bugs (Roaches, waterbugs, & all kinds of other creatures) are consistantly a problem, especially in the summer. Sad enough, tenants didn't help leaving trash outside of their apartments to lure even more in.
*Crime ... They say crime is very bad. Other than the double homocide in 2007, it hasn't been horrible. Some friends have had their apartments broken into in the middle of the day while @ work. But at the end of the day it is a low income housing complex, things are bound to happen.
*Management ... Uhhhh, who's the manager again' It always changes. Hard to keep up with, and even worse is the regular employees. I've had countless problems with our language barrier, as if I was speaking to a child about adult issues. Very frustrating...
The Gate normally doesn't work. Security has actually improved but the complex is so big that if something were to happen I doubt they'd have a big impact on the situation.
The Water has turned off unexpectedly for hours at a time, ruining daily routines such as showering, cooking, using the toilet...etc... My neighbors apt flooded the other day due to a toilet leak.
The pools are disgusting.
Construction (when it was going on) was TERRIBLE. Imagine being awaken every morning in between 6AM and 7:30AM to Hammers against your roof/windowcill. Bad way to start a day.
I've dealt with individuals posing as a undercover police officer following me through the complex, among other suspicious characters.
Overall, the 28-building complex is too large for management to handle. You'll move in and be just another # on the list.
Good Luck.

I have lived here at Azalea Park for 11 years now. It has always been a nice spacious place for me to call home. I think that it is crazy for some people to get on here and say some of the things they are saying. These are probably the group of people that go place to place and then eventually get evicted because they are ghetto or can not pay their rent. As far as the roaces go, I have been here for 11 years and the roaches miss my place because I am clean. SO for you that have roaches, CLEAN UP!!!!!! Management can not be responsible for the roaches you BRING and MAINTAIN in your apartment. If you are new and want to rent an apartment, I suggest here. They have a $500.00 referral fee that I have taken advantage of several times, and unlike some apartments they do pay you for your referral. If you have a problem with anything or anyone talk to the managers David and Iris, they are both great helpers and HANDLE YOU WITH CARE. I have had small issues and they have both opened and welcomed mw in their office to speak about my issue. They are genuine people!
To respond to the security issues, I have seen them on the property late at night and early in the morning. They will stop you if you look like you are up to no good, and I am happy about that, it makes me sleep better knowing that the managers does not just go home and forget about the complex.
People want to complain about the construction, do you want a better community or what. I had construction in my building to that started at 9AM but it didnt bother me because I am up and getting ready for WORK!!!!
I give the place a B-plus because they are putting forth an effort to make things work. For the most part, one of the corperate offices is in the complex too, so that speaks for itself if they want to put a place on property that is higher management.
The leasing ladies may need a little help that I can say, but I see them trying too, but I suggest if you like it talk to the managers Mr. David or Ms. Iris!!!!!
