I've lived at Berkeley Heights now for over a year and a half, and overall I must say it's been a positive experience. The best thing about this complex is that the apartments are great - beautifully designed and flawlessly constructed - I haven't had a single maintenance issue inside my apartment since I've been here. I live in a studio apartment, but the kitchen, bathroom, and closet are all generously sized. I don't think I'll ever have another kitchen that matches the quality of this one - in fact, I'm moving to a condo in Atlantic Station now and regret that the kitchen isn't nearly as polished as the one here.

Unfortunately the construction quality outside the apartments isn't quite as solid as that inside. My biggest complaint would have to be the gates - the spring mechanisms are always a bit broken, so they either slam shut or don't close behind you at all (and not everyone is considerate about making sure they close). The hallways are open air, which I liked at first, but after a year or two without much cleaning they now look a bit dingy.

Besides that, I would caution anyone from living over the pool, as I have. Most of the time it's quiet, but every once in a while there are pool parties or late night get-togethers, and the sound carries right into your apartment. Besides the windows though, sound doesn't carry much from neighboring apartments, except for the occasional base-line from someone playing their music too loud.

There have been a few security issues over the years, as the posters below me have described - but again this is Atlanta, and the complex can only do so much in guaranteeing the safety of your belongings. Overall I've been quite satisfied here, and would recommend it to anyone willing to put up with a few minor issues in exchange for a lovely apartment.
