Berkeley Heights = Dormatory...

...And it's getting worse. It gets more ghetto every month and management does not care. I promise. Let me give you a few questions to ask the management before you decide to move in to this complex:
1. Do you realize you have one of the lowest scores on apartmentratings.com of any apartment complex in the area' Why is that'
2. Do you have security cameras on all levels of your parking deck' If not, why not'
3. I see you have a mini-mall complex in the front of this apartment building. Do people congregate and make lots of noise at odd hours and, if so, how do you prevent that behavior'
4. I noticed you have a pool in your courtyard. Do you actually enforce the hours that people can be in the pool to make noise' How' Do you just wait for residents to complain and hope that the "courtesy officer" shows up'
5. Are you proactive about enforcing dog owners to pick up dog poop, especially near the only mailbox on the premises' If not, why not' If I walk to the back of your complex, will there be a lot of dog poop out right now'
6. Does your security officer actually have hours that he/she walks the complex to determine if there are problems'
7. Do you have a token "courtesy officer" that is actually effectual for security problems or do you have a real SECURITY officer who responds quickly to problems and is paid to work for you instead of just getting an apartment discount for calling himself courtesy officer'
8. I noticed you have security gates on your external complex entrances. Some vendors produce better products than others in this area. Do your security gates ever get inconveniently stuck for hours/days on end from "pollen deposits"'
9. By percentages, how many college students live at your complex' Would your residents describe your complex as having a "dorm" feel'
10. What's the residency turnover' Is it high'
11. How long has the current property manager (not the management company) been running the facility'
12. Beside break-ins to car and home, what are the primary problems residents of Berkeley Heights face'
Ask the management these questions and watch their faces turn red in disgust as they realize you have learned how bad it is to pay to live in the dormatory called Berkeley Heights.
Finally, pay no more than:
$750 - Efficiency
$950 - 1 Bedroom
$1200 - 2 Bedroom
$1500 - 3 Bedroom
Or you are paying too much to live in a dorm.
....Or just move to a real complex because this one is horrible.
