I have lived in Berkeley Run for 2 years. In the beginning I was very happy. Now it seems like after a management change things are horrible. The garbage stinks up the whole parking lot, They stopped landscaping, the gate was changed (no more secure) and now you have to stick your arm out of your car in the pouring rain, breeze ways are filthy. Management is very nice but that doesn't mean you don't have to call 3 times to get the issue taken care of. Constant problems with apt from clogged bathtub to leaking windows. Noise is not that bad if you are fortunate enough to have quiet neighbors. Hope you don't plan on laying out at the pool for too long because after 3 their is no sun to be found, due to trees. I agree with the gate issue - There is always a line to get into the apartment b/c people who do not live there take forever to call their party to buzz them in, half the time those people don't even know what they are doing, just sitting there wasting my time. When the gate opens multiple cars can enter at once, I don't like that, I think they should install an "arm" (or whatever you call it) to allow only one car to pass through at a time. When the gate was on the other system we could just use the remote to open the gate, no problem. As far as the smell, I believe that is b/c we have the valet trash service and people do not adhere to the rules and leave their trash out in the halls (breeze-way), and on the side a day and a half before pick up. The apartment overall is well kept, it is always clean and the landscapers do a great job, they come out everyday and thoroughly clean up. (Side note: It also helps when people with dogs clean up after the dog goes potty b/c if you had your own home I am sure you would do that, so this is your home now as well as the home of other people who do not have dogs so please be mindful) Management is very nice, but sometimes it does take a few phone calls to get an issue resolved, this could be because of the type of problem the resident is experiencing, however a courtesy phone call to give an ETA of when the problem will be taken care of would help. I think we have a very competent management staff and they try to do everything to accommodate our needs. We have have to keep in mind they cannot fix and/or entertain all our requests. I must say that my upstairs neighbors walk very hard so I can hear them as they move to and fro in their apartment, but I cannot hear their conversation or anything like that or smell what they are cooking, but I suppose I can just ask them to be a little more considerate about our feelings when they are trotting over my head. I would like the people below me to let me know if I am being loud too. The pool is great, I don't have a problem with the trees, I actually like the fact that the trees are there, they create more privacy, plus you can never get enough oxygen. All apartments are pre-wired so if you need to feel more secure you can just turn the alarm on. I love the area that the apartment is in, I feel very safe to walk at night. We live among people who are not like us, have different traditions and customs so there will be things that you are displeased with as long as you live in an apartment complex, when you buy your own home, or rent an actual house you will not have these same problems. Other than all the issues stated on this site about Berkeley Run the apartments are great, stop by sometime.

I agree with the gate issue which is why I just posted a rating... a girl was almost murdered at Berkeley Run last year because a random man wanted to rob her! He beat her senseless, all because of no security and the gates being open too long. God I hope this doesn't ever happen to anyone I know. I've warned every female I know. My neighbors told me about this incident which seems to be truth.
