First let me say that I am not, nor have I ever been a resident of Bershire. I am simply writing about the lousy application process.
I relocated to Atlanta from Washington, DC because of work and because of time constraints, I wasn't able to visit Atlanta prior to moving. All I had was word of mouth and lots of internet research to make my decision on where to live. To make a long story short, when I got to Atlanta, the apartment I chose was NOT suitable and I was forced to move into a hotel until I could find a decent place. Berkshire was at the top of my list! I had been working with a tight relocation budget and needed to find a place soon, to avoid costly hotel bills (which I explained to Sherry). I went through the whole application process and got the complete run around! First, not only was Sherry not the most "professional" to talk to... she always sounded as if I was bothering her when I would call. Many of the other property consultants that I spoke with seemed to bend over backwards to help me out, given my nightmare of a situation but she acted as if I was an inconvenience!
Anyway, after the application went thru (which she never called to tell me... I had to call her), she told me that I was denied because I had a "CRIMINAL BACKGROUND" flag!!! I was in complete shock because other than traffic violations, I have nothing. She made me go thru the whole process of contacting the district court from my city and had them email me paperwork showing my complete background record. She then told me she would call me back after they reviewed it and I would be able to come by and pick up my keys. Needless to say she never called back and she had me thinking everything was on track! The next day, I finally called her and she said that the paperwork didn't "prove" that I didn't have a record! I'm not sure what else I could have given them (other than a DNA sample) that would have but after that... I was done with Berkshire! Their customer service sucks and this further added to my relocation nightmare.
For the record, the criminal background issue was a COMPLETE error and the property (which offered a way better deal and more amenities) I am staying at now actually took the time to call & investigate and found it to be erroneous. I look at the whole experience with Berkshire as a blessing because I doubt I would have been happy with this type of management.

I totally agree with you. I have been living in the Berkshires for a while now. Boy do they need some customer service training. I always haven't plesant experiences with Tara,Star, Vickie. Sherri always seem as if the residents are bothering her and she has the worse phone ettiquite. Danielle, is a completely different story. I have had so many bad experiences with her that I hate when she answers and I call. She is SO slaack.

I have lived here over a year and have been very happy. The staff in the office has always been cool. I have a good relationship with everyone.

Well I have always had a great experience with everyone in the office, except Star. I have had many confrontations with her. She is always unprofessional, and always has a bad attitude. She definitely needs customer service training! Everyone else is very nice, and always willing to help!

I have had mixed interactions with the staff. Terra has always been sweet when I needed anything from the leasing office (i.e. maintenance, package pickup, normal stuff) but I would have to lump her in with the entire office in saying that they are very SLOW to do anything. There have been more than a few occasions where I have left messages or asked for something expecting a callback and haven't received one, or even called to have something done in my apartment, and had to call back SEVERAL times before anyone came out (usually not even fixing the original problem and typically having to come back.) I don't remember anyone in the office being sympathetic or even interested when I've had to go through that.

Wow. This is definitely a misinterpretation of not only Sherrie, but the entire Berkshire staff. Sherrie was actually my leasing consultant. Not only did Sherrie help me decide that Berkshire was the residence for me, but when she was out the day I signed my lease she called to make sure the apartment I had been leased was in great condition. Sherrie has always made sure I was taken care of and definitely goes out of her way. The maintenance is great as well, as the answer any service calls within a 24 hour period if not immediately. And the rest of the staff has been a pleasure to work with thus far, I haven't had any problems with them up to this point and doubt I will. If you would like to move to a nice location and into a nice property, I would definitely recommend The Berkshires! And remember to ask for Sherrie!! :)

Sherrie is a sweetheart! Daniell is the *itch of the office try asking her for any help its like your runing her day she is very unprofessional and fake. By the way dont have your packages delivered here they always come up missing and management does nothing about it I had a tv stolen that tara signed for and im still pissed off months later this place was a nightmare in glad i was relocated.

To the person who posted this...where did you end up moving? I'm hating it and want to go ahead and get some places lined up to check out for when my lease is up...
