Don't get suckered in by a nice lease rate.

I have lived here for almost four years and am about to move out. When I first moved in, water and sewer were included, and we had curb-side garbage pick-up. Now absolutely NO utilities are included and the building is collapsing around me. Within the past five months, my apartment has flooded, my a/c has broken (4 days in July and counting), and several cars have been broken into.
The management seems to be trying to fix things up by beginning a major renovation project, but are in over their heads and are angering residents faster than they can pacify them. I travel for work, often work from home, and I have odd hours. I often get notices that people will be entering my apartment or telling me that I need to clear off my balcony THE DAY OF the activity. I have been woken up early in the morning telling me to move my car. The tree that would have shaded my apartment during the blistering heat that comes with having no A/C was cut down two months ago. The office staff is unapologetically inadequate.
I chose to live here for three reasons: 1 - great location, 2 - lots of trees (you couldn't tell you were in the middle of the city), 3 - great value. From this list, all that is left at this point is the location, and there are several complexes in this area that can beat that by leaps and bounds.
Finally, the "emergency" maintenance number is useless. I have called several times in a weekend with no response. While the maintenance staff is friendly, they are overworked, and you have to go through the surly leasing office staff to have a maintenance request filled. Good luck with that.
Don't live here. Run away before you get sucked in!
