OK, I don't feel safe though

I moved into Camden Brookwood about 6 months ago. I have incurred no hidden fees nor had anything broken into/stolen. I have a beautiful apartment and have made some really great friends here. I can't hear anyone above or around me and the grounds are very well kept.
That being said, we were on the news last night for being known as a crime-ridden apartment complex. There was a gentleman held at gunpoint and robbed 2 nights ago in our stairwell. 2 weeks ago, there were 15 cars broken into (ok idiots, don't leave your laptops and ipods in your car!). So no, I don't exactly feel safe, but the place is OK.
