I moved into Summit Club at Dunwoody (now Camden Dunwoody) in July 2001. I agree, it has gone downhill since.

General Apartment Complex Issues: I started seeing major problems last year, when we received notice that there had been first-floor apartment break-ins. Also, before my current neighbors, I had neighbors that I SWEAR were drug dealers. They had people knocking on their door all hours of the night, 50 tricked-out cars,and NEVER looked me in the eye. My neighbor always hit on me - he wouldn't take no for an answer. These same neighbors had a fight in the hallway that so bad that I called the police. Then one day they packed up and left. I think they skipped out on rent because the property manager didn't seem to know that they moved out! Parking is so bad a now rent a garage. I sometimes run to my apartment from my garage because I feel unsafe. In my building, the bad ass kids pull the fire alarm at least once every month. The fire department shows up, but I have a feeling they won't be so responsive the next time.

The Good about Camden Dunwoody: Nice apartments - pretty well constructed, looks good aesthetically. Landscaping is nice; they actually clean the hallways now - so that's not as bad anymore. Neighbors are generally nice. The gate works more (though it IS usually broken).

Now, my issues. My air conditioning went out, which is NOT good in an Atlanta spring and summer. The apartment was almost 90 degrees for three weeks - which is how long they went before admitting there was a problem. THEN, I was cleaning the stove in my kitchen and noticed smoke coming from the back. There obviously was an electric short so I cut the power to the stove from the fuse box when I leave the apartment. I'd like a home to come back to! I've put in complaints, not sure they'll respond. THEN we got a note saying that a woman's car was stolen while she was trying to get her mail! FINALLY, I came home from a business trip last night and opened my door to be greeted to waterbugs roming around my apartment. I'm obsessed with cleanliness and the scent of pine, so it's not that. Wanna know what Camden's recourse was' They told me "well, the pest control comes on Friday, we have you on the list." I responded with "it's WEDNESDAY!" To which they responded, we'll send someone up there to remove the ones he sees; maybe you want to set off a couple of bug bombs'" What about the ones he doesn't see' And don't I PAY for pest control' Why should I have to do that' They also told me that there was a waterbug epidemic in Atlanta. I asked friends and the folks at Promove. I suppose you've guessed that there isn't any "Atlanta Waterbug Epidemic". I'm staying at a hotel through Friday (that's three days) while I fumigate my own apartment. I'm gonna have to bribe the handimen to set the bug bombs off, but I'd like to get home. I'm ready to break my lease, no matter how much it costs.Take my advice - stay away!
