MC has a lot of history. Much of it bad and I've seen most of it (more than 10 years worth anyway). There is no better location around, however the last 5 years have been plagued by disinterested, cheap ownership.
The renovation and conversion to condominiums by the new ownership is welcome by me and many other long term, "stable" residents. We have been impressed by the quality of renovation and commitment of the new owner's to weeding out the bad apples that had been allowed to live at MC as the rental market softened over the last few years.
The renovation is a hassle from time to time, but when they make it down to my building, I'm pretty sure I'm going to purchase since mortgage payments are cheaper than rents these days. I know the improvements are being made to benfit the condos that are coming, but at least they're being made. This place is home for me and I'm glad to see the progress.
