Poor security, erratic maintenance

The primary reason I chose this apartment is because it is very close (walking distance) to Georgia Tech. Unfortunately, there are a lot of security issues.

1) Car break-ins are very frequent. Unless your house has a garage, you are quite vulnerable. Two cars parked right behind my home were broken into on the same night. Car break-ins are pretty common and you'll most likely lose your car stereo than your car.

2) Kids: The kids play baseball, football in the parking lots, even though there are boards saying it is not allowed in the parking lots. They also intentionally damage parking lot gates, street lamps, street signs. They are quite destructive. Once, a group of kids were trying to break a street lamp by throwing stones at it. I've also been harassed (racially') by the teen kids a number of times. The apartment security is very insincere in their approach.

3) House break-ins: these are not very uncommon. I do hear of break-ins at least once every 6 months. In one case, somebody tried to force his way through my friends' front door. The weird thing is that it happened twice - in a gap of 2 weeks.

4) Parking: Street parking is almost always unavailable - most of the Georgia Tech students/employees park in the streets. Gated parking (Gate = 1.5 inch PVC pipe parking arm) is available and is adequate. But most of the time, the PVC arm is broken by the kids.

6) Maintenance is erratic. Sometimes they fix everything on time. Most of the times, they don't. You'll have to follow up at least twice to get something fixed.

7) Staff: Most of the staff don't know what the rules are. Whatever they say one day may not hold the next day. They do leave notices regularly and inform people when there have been any safety issues in any of the apartments.
