I love the location, and even my apartment...but don't think I will renew lease after 2 years

I must say, this has been one of the most interesting living experiences of my life. First let me say..the location you cannot beat! The apartment complex itself is overall..well kept. My particular unit was in very good repair when I moved in. So far as maintenance...I haven't had the same issues that other's who have posted on this site have. They have always showed up in a timely manner and fixed whatever the issue was. Although I can imagine perhaps my repairs may not have been as large as perhaps other's. Now for the con's that I have experienced since living here...there are many many bad kids around here..who do not seem to be supervised. I have witnessed them fighting, causes destruction to other residents cars...and for what seems like no reason at all causing destruction to the property that they live on. It is somewhat sad..because I wonder where their parents are when all of this is going on. This is the main problem I have dealt with since staying here. Now as of recently the past few months it's the crime.. mainly armed robbery. Someone was just robbed the other night not far from my unit... at gunpoint! This was the second time this week. We have a lot of college students that stay here mainly Georgia Tech, and they seem to be the main target. However it is still somewhat unsettling to see this happening literally in your own apartment community. The other factor that has began to bother me is the fact that I don't see increased police presence or security...and we do have our own "security" in this community..in fact since these events it seems I see them less often! Last year this time..I would see them patorling around in their golf carts and waht not..but not so much this year. I am hoping that they are doing something about this..but thus far haven't really seen any real action..which ofcourse should first and foremost be on the part of the Atlanta police, but secondly on the apartment community as well. All that to say..I do definately feel this is my last year here.. as much as I love the location and even my aparment...I do feel that putting up with the destructive kids, and now the growing crime...is not worth my nearly $900 a month in rent for a 1 bedroom! I wouldn't say definately an employee, but alot of maintenance shops pay more attention to one block than another, for various reasons.... Some are just easier to maintain, the work is easier... others have just been renevated and are being watched more closely by management.
I lived there for a year and never saw one maintenance person for trouble tickets I put in, while I saw them walking out of apartments in different area's of the community.
That place would be a gold mine for anyone who owned it though if the management was fixed, if they replaced everyone in the office staff and maintenance staff and fixed their security patrols, until then.....
