steadily going downhill

Me and my wife moved in and loved the way the apartments were set up and the grounds that the community sat on. We now are just waiting for the day that we will be moving in to our new apartment down the street. I agree with the last several posts on this site that things have gone downhill and fast. planning on moving', then watch out because you are in for at least another 8 months of construction all around you. the renovations are nothing more than facelifts which leave the deteriorating structure underneath. The air conditioners are awful and can not handle the georgia heat. they have "fixed" ours about 5 times to no avail but still insist that nothing is wrong, well say that to our 180 dollar power bill. we have also had a leaky sink, gas leak, and had the security called on us for a workout video my wife did becauseyou can hear everything the people around you do. beware with construction you may wake up to the water being turned off, I have done it 4 times now 3 of which i needed to take a shower and go to work. I will say that the office normally responds quickly for concerns and maintenance requests however the repairs are nothing more than band-aids and quick fixes. I'm not sure if the new management will be the same. They are also going to be doing lots of construction around the pool to build a new gym, now all i can think of with that is noise and inconvenience to the current residents. with new management and construction also comes new prices. they are increasing the prices 20-25% (ours would have gone from 1080 to 1350) and forcing current residents to move out or into one of the new renovated apartments which either way is highly inconvenient. We were planning on living here for 3 years but now are leaving because we can not afford the new prices. We have seen a lot of moving trucks but very few moving in so far most are the residents leaving. On a positive note the apartment layout is nice and the parking is usually ample if you park before 10 or 11 at night. the place is not horrible but is changing and you can find better deals out there where you will not have to deal with things like you will here .

The newly renovated apartments were way too expensive but the management has come down A LOT on the price to the point where I am not paying any more than I currently am. They are also putting in free wi-fi on the grounds and are building a new gym and business center. The new units have new AC units and water heaters, too, so I'm expecting to save on my power bill (mine has averaged about $60/month this summer). It's not perfect, but it could be a lot worse. Parking has never been a problem and the construction isn't too loud or too early - unless you sleep in until noon.
