I moved to Northridge Lake in February, 2000. The service at the front office was good, and the maintenance men went out of their way to make sure everything was always in order. This changed.
When the complex was sold and became Empirian at Northride, the service deteriorated to non-existant. Our air conditioner frequently did not work, and they refused to fix it. One night I came home to an 85-degree apartment to find a note from the new maintenance department that the air conditioner seemed to work, required no repair, and we should learn how to use the thermostat... as if we were idiots. No matter how specifically I described and demonstrated the problem would they fix it. A friend of mine finally worked on it so that it would at least move some air.
They insisted on remodeling our building on weekends beginning at Saturday at 8:00am, in spite of our pleas to allow us to have a weekend in our apartment in peace. The remodeling involved installing vinyl siding and refinishing the floor upstairs. It took them months to actually finish the building. Ironicially, after they spent so much time on the floors upstairs (at the expense of being able to sleep past 8am on Saturday), they rented to apartment to a tenant with a dog which lived on their upstairs balcony, which in turn left the entire porch reeking of dog urine and feces. A revolting biohazard. We could not open our back door because of the stench.
They also left the access gates open so that there was constant foot and automobile traffic at all hours. My car was basically ruined between the malfunctioning gates, inconsiderate neighbors, and children walking on my car. On one occasion, their subcontractor hit my car in the parking lot, and management said it wasn't their problem.
After all this, they raised our rent.
Empirian at Northridge is the finest example I have ever witnessed of an otherwise decent apartment complex changed to a virtual ghetto in a matter of one year. In the last months I lived there, we heard gunfire at the lake area.
Apparently Empirian at Northridge will rent to anyone who has money to spend, with no screening whatsoever. When we moved in, we felt safe, when we left 3 years later, the entire complex was a security risk. It's difficult to imagine the current ownership will do anything but let the property decline until it becomes unlivable, and they are apparently ready to take advantage of the residents whenever possible.
These other favorable reviews are obviously authored by the pathetic management team. Take them as a sign of their lack of ethics.
