Unfortunately I'm still living here due to unforseen circumstances, but the place is not as bad as others in the area. It's easier for me to tell you why you should not move here than it is for me to tell you why you might want to live here so here I go: I've come to find that the staff is rude, namely Darius. The level of service you may receive from him depends on which day you catch him. I'd swear his mood changes with the weather.
There is a SERIOUS ant problem and it's not just in my apartment....judging from my conversation with other tenants current and former, it's complex wide. Getting the exterminator to spray your apartment will take an act of Congress. My boyfriend has called the office so many times I stopped counting and the guy only showed up once. The ant problem is mainly in the bathroom, but at the time time he showed up the bathroom was "in use". I asked him to stick around for about 10 more minutes after he was done spraying the rest of the apartment and he said he had another apartment to spray, but would be back. I have yet to see the guy again and that was about 2 weeks ago. There is also a serious mold problem in the bathroom. That also seems to be complex wide.
The kids in the complex are unruly and seem to lack home training. Apparently, while standing in the middle of the street, they are not threatened by the sight of a car coming straight at them. They take their time moving to the side of the street, if they even move at all. I've had to actually go around some of the kids quite a few times. This shouldn't surprise me because some of the adults are no better, so I can see where the kids might get it from. There were times when I had to slam on my brakes due to someone coming out of nowhere and running right in front of my car.
Because I live in an one bedroom building, there are no washer/dryer hook ups in the unit and the entire building shares a pay washer and dryer. You literally have to get up before the sun rises if you intend to do any laundry that day. It's a must that you remove your clothes promptly when the machines stop or someone will take your clothes out of the washer/dryer and leave them on top of the machines.
I guess I should consider myself lucky because one of my neighbors thinks she is the neighborhood watch. She hides out on her balcony at all times, watching everything that moves and you may not even know she is there. She can give you a full report on the comings and goings of everyone in the surrounding buildings.
Maintenance is slow and when they do show up you may not know right away that they were there because they don't leave any paperwork stating your maintenance request has been completed.
My stay here has not been as hellish as it could have been, but I would not recommend Empirian to anyone.

I couldn't agree with you more... I've been at Empirian since it was known as Northridge Lake Apartments and there was covered assigned parking. From then to now the place has gone steadily downhill. Rude in-compenent staff (I know only too well about the "Darius" character.)who are as far from professional as you can get. They act a if they are doing the resident some sort of favor by allowing them to rent. Darius once took $10.00 (cash)from me, claimaing it was a deposit on the key to get into the fitness-center. I offered to write a check be said it had to be in cash. Upon return of the key I was supposed to get my 10 bucks back ,in cash. Darius is also now an ex employee but no one was conning me out of my $10.00 The next month I wrote my rent check short $10, pointing out the reason. They demanded the $10.00 and I told them "Sue me for it" I'm waiting on the summons.Maintenance! What maintenance... It is worse than "slow" in my experience. It is non-existent. Except for the occasional, "gringo" riding a golf cart around picking up pop bottles and paper cups. It takes going to the office, demanding to see the
