You can find better than this

I lived at Empirian at Northridge for one year. It was enough to realize that there are better deals in the same area, if you know where to look. So, we moved.
If you think of renting an unit at Empirian, then consider these first:
1. the gates never worke, and they will never ever work (they are too old to be fixed, the management doesn't want to buy new ones, the tenants are too angry to wait for the barrier to move up and brake it) ... and yes, you have to pay like $5 to get a card that you will never use
2. yes, the other review was right, it will cost you $35 to get a key for something called fitness room. Not very well equiped, not very clean, everything gives you a feeling of temporary location. And, yes, you'll get your money back at the end of the lease only, no matter when you return the key ... so you better keep it if you already paid the money.
3. maintenance' what maintenance' at Empirian' there is no such thing as maintenance at Empirian! You see the maintenance guys going around the buildings all the time but if you have a problem it will take forever to have someone come and fix it. It looks like management deals with incredibly long lists of maintenanc requests, or at least this is what we were suggested repeatedly.
4. when we moved out (beginning of July 2008) one of the pools was ok, the other one was not functional. And the one that was ok had always been ok.
5. management ... well, here it is the biggest problem. As other review said, Autumn is too nice and friendly to be part of the group of people. She should find a better job or community. But besides her, you'll not find someone really friendly or really helpful there. Drax seems to be very friendly, but it took us only few weeks to realize he's not doing much to help us solve whatever issues we had, and he also lied to us whenever it was convenient. Don't trust a word of what he's saying. The others also seem friendly sometimes but things will very seldom get solved for you. The older guy that came from Shadow Pines (currenly "The Park at Dunwoody") this summer gave us the impression that he's making two mistakes at the same time: (1) he's trying to impress his new management by obviously charging you as much as possible for the benefit of the community, and (2) he follows and interprets the rules to the benefit of the management, not the tenant, with no flexibility at all. It's like talking to a wall. Not to mention one of the managers who decided to "throw out" of the office a tenant with too many complaints and too difficult to reason with. You don't need the MBAs that my wife and I have to realize that this is unacceptable for any manager anywhere, and that such a person should be fired the very next day.
6. there is no play area for children. as a consequence, they use what was formerly known as the tennis courts. Imagine that it's impossible to play tennis anymore. But the courts don't have nets anyways and the "lighted" part never worked. So, don't have any hopes for tennis because this is not the community to support it.
On the positive side I never had any problems with parking or safety. Also, we were positively surprised to receive back all our deposit when we moved out, except a small $5 fee for something for which we never were able to understand the writing explaining it. And the lake is a nice feature of the community, especially when the fountain is working. And renting there is relatively cheap for the area. Unfortunately, you get what you paid for.
I wish we felt there was someone to care about our needs. Maybe we wouldn't have moved out.

I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START THE OTHER VIEWS ARE CORRECT AUTUMN DOESN'T BELONG THERE SHE IS REALLY NICE AND ALWAYS PROFESSIONAL SHE TRIES TO HELP AS MUCH AS SHE POSSIBLE CAN. I QUESS YOU DO GET YOUR MONIES WORTH. I REGRET I'VE SIGNED A LEAST WITH THIS PLACE 8 TIMES. WELL THEY FINALLY GOT RID OF LEIGH BECAUSE THE UPPER MAN (JEFF) REALIZED THAT SHE WAS A CRACK HEAD WHO SLEPT WITH ALL THE TENANTS. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN IT'S NOT FIT FOR ANY ONE TO PAY THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY FOR RENTAT THIS NASTY PLACE. I HATE THIS PLACE BUT I GUESS IT PARTIAL MY FAULT BECUASE I'D TOOK SO MUCH OF THIS ABUSE BUT NO MORE.
