I would like to inform you about something that happened to me while living here.
A few months after I moved in, a young couple moved in next door to me. The walls are very thin and you can hear a lot of what goes on in the units around you.
These people would have company over and play loud music until after midnight. I made the staff in the office aware of the problem and they told me that they would confront the people. I was worried that the people would find out who I was and that I would have a problem with them. The staff assured me that they would not under any circumstances reveal who I was. They said they would just tell them a surrounding unit made the complaint and not specify me.
The couple was confronted.
The next thing I saw, was the couple socializing with one of the leasing consultants(most of the Westchester employees live on the property and become friends with the residents)I saw the couple talking with this leasing consultant at the pool one day for a long period of time and I have seen them talking and laughing together in the halls when Id pass by to get my mail and use the fitness center.
The next morning I was confronted by the man in the parking garage as I was getting into my car. He addressed me by my first and last name. He told me he knew I was the one who turned him and his girlfriend in. He also told me I was going to pay for what I did. He is early twenties, and Im in my thirties. I figured he was just trying to be tough and menacing, but didnt really think hed follow through on doing anything to me. I got into my car without saying a word to him. As I drove to work, I was furious at the Westchester staff. To me, it is obvious how this couple got information about me.
The next morning, I left my apartment to go to my car and found that both tires on the drivers side were slashed.
When I confronted the management, they denied the possibility of their staff doing such a thing. I also called the police and made a report. They said there was nothing they could do unless there was an eyewitness who actually saw the couple do this.
I tell you, as a potential renter what I wish I had known before moving in. The staff in the office live on property and socialize with the residents-which is very unprofessional. There is a possibility that your information will be given out just as mine was. Dont think there will never be a circumstance where you will need to complain about a neighbor. You cant predict what circumstances your future will bring.
I have had to break my lease and recently moved out of the complex.
