Better than Most

I've lived here for seven months, and overall I have found the Estates to be a nice place to live. I am a young professional and very particular about my dwellings.
When I first visited the Estates, I was impressed by the cherry wood cabinetry, the all black kitchen appliances, the faux granite countertops, the hardwood floors, the Berber carpet, the built-in computer desk and bookshelves, the garden tubs, the huge walk-in closets, the double sinks in the master bath, the fireplace, the Spanish-style tile flooring in the baths and walkways, and having the washer and dryer included didn't hurt either. I also liked the fitness center, business center, pool table in the lounge room, and the valet trash service (but you will pay $12/mo for this service--it isn't free). Each of these amenities distinguished the Estates from the countless other apartments I'd come across in my apartment search.
However, I do agree with some of the previous posters when they say that the rent is a bit pricey. After all, there is no elevator and only the bottom parking lot is garaged. Parking can be a problem, and there have been several occasions when the gates were not working properly. Whenever this occurs, the gate is usually fixed within a few days. And maintenance could be better. I was once locked in my apartment because the doorknob was jammed. I called maintenance and the worker supposedly gave me a new doorknob only for the new one to do the same thing. After notifying maintenance personnel, the worker merely stuffed a trash bag between the door knob to remedy the problem. My major complaint with the interior of my home is that there are cracks in several of the walls that were not fixed before I moved in. I also found several little stains when I moved in that a little cleaner and elbow grease could've removed.
Furthermore, occasionally an alarm may go off unexpectantly for no obvious reason, although this hasn't happened for some months now. I've seen a few children around, but they aren't disruptive. There are a few gatherings in the clubhouse on the weekends that last until the wee hours, but you can't expect complete silence on the weekends. Most people here are very respectful of each other. The one time I did have a noice complaint and confronted my neighbor about it, the neighbor apologized and it has NEVER happened again.
If you're willing to pay the price, I think you will be happy at the Estates of Dunwoody. I only caution you about signing a lease with roommates. If it doesn't work out and you want to move out, the Estates will not allow you to move into another of their apartments as will some other complexes. You can only move if the other person agrees to move, which may not happen if you're stuck with a freeloader. Just something to think about.
