I lived here for my last year as a student, and thought it was great. Unfortunately, now I have a job and have to move to be closer to it. I was very pleased with Fernwood.


The positives:

--> Maintenance was very prompt. I only had a couple of maintenance requests in the year I was there, but each one was handled very quickly and properly. Plus the maintenance man is very friendly.

--> The location was great for me - close enough to Ga Tech that it is a very short drive.

--> I liked having the gate, although I'm not really sure that it could keep anyone out who really wanted to get in...

--> The landscape is always kept up nicely.

--> It is a pretty small complex, and I felt like I got good personal service from the office staff.



The negatives:

--> Parking. I was on the end with the pool - it was nice having a view of the pool, but nearly impossible to park close to my apartment after it got late... Come home after 6, you probably won't get a spot over there; after 10, no way...

--> I didn't like having to haul my trash all the way to the other end of the complex, but there's really nothing you can do about that - I liked not being woken up by the garbage truck though!

--> My apartment's balcony was not covered. Well, it was a second floor apartment, and it had a balcony above it, but the top one was not covered. So when it rains, you can't go out on the deck without getting wet. I'm pretty sure that some of the apartments' balconies are covered, but I don't know if it's just different floorplans than what I had or what.

--> My toilet was very slow to refill the tank.



Regarding security: I have gotten several notices about cars being broken into. Lately I have been seeing hired security guards in the complex at night - probably a result of break-ins, but a big step towards correction of the problem.

Overall, I thought it was great. I would recommend it to friends. My "negatives" are all just little pesky things, and for me, the positives outweighed them by a lot. The management is great - I thought this was a great place to live AD2Hw9Wn8Umb3NN1w1jt
