Parking Fiasco, Break-ins, Late Night loitering, Rude Property Manager, Gate ALWAYS broken, BUT... they just put elipticals in the gym.

Admittedly, all apartment complexes have their drawbacks. In fact, acknowledging that truth, I elected to live here for two years. For the last 6 months, however, I have been counting the days until I'm out of my lease. I have been absolutely miserable here for a litany of reasons.
First, I am a single female and on a number of occasions I have felt unsafe and/or very uncomfortable walking from my car to my apartment in the evenings. People are constantly loitering in the parking lot and the stairwells at late hours. The gate is broken more often than its working, so non-residents routinely gain unlawful admittance to the property. And even when the gate's not broken, people will tailgate residents in or block their way to the gate, so that the resident can either let them in or engage in a standoff.
Second, the noise level has gotten much worse. Recently, there are a number of parties in apartments, behind apartment buildings, and in the parking lot. As a result, at night, parking is a HUGE problem (Cars are parked EVERYWHERE, including in front of fire hydrants and behind your vehicle so you can't back out!)...and so is getting a quiet night's sleep. And in the morning, don't be surprised to find a beer bottle sitting on your car or smashed near your tire.
Third, this once pet friendly apartment complex has recently added "no pet" signs to all of the green areas.
Fourth, don't be drawn in by the underground parking. It's not safe. There have been a HUGE increase in car break ins here. About a month ago, there were 8 in one night. I was informed that the majority of those break ins were into vehicles parked in the garages.
Finally, this property was recently purchased by new management. Unfortunately, the new management is extremely non-responsive and rude. I can only assume the staff must have developed this quality from the new property manager himself, who is one of the rudest, most arrogant trolls I have ever had to deal with. Three times now, I have gone in with legitimate concerns and/or complaints and he has either completely blown me off or been unecessarily rude.
I share all of this with you, so that you can make an informed decision before moving into this place. It is undeniable that the interior of these apartments are quite nice and well designed. Indeed, they can really draw you in. But I assure you there are too many negatives for you to simply turn a blind eye. I encourage you to look at other complexes and consider renting from a private party before renting at Gables at Lenox Hills.

I am also a single female who used to enjoy walks with my dog around the complex, However it truely has become an unsafe place. I have been confronted by 3 large men offering me drugs, very openly. I have been blocked in the driveway more times then I can remember by pimped out SUV's who are Chillin' with their Homies.... When Gables took over the property I was told about all the new things they were going to add IE dog park, rose garden, news letters and complex functions. we havent seen ONE, al we have seen in the GHETTO move from down the road out side the gate to next door... I cant wait till my lease is up5 months and counting......BEWARE
