the apt are pretty nice, especially on top floor (high ceiling, fire place...). the pool is cool, the bbq area aswell.
the management has however not been satisfying at all for us: ineficient and not professional. we had an ants problem that was never taken care of seriously. the facades were repainted in the fall 07, and the painters put paint on my room window. I went to (or called) the leasing center twice a week for 5 weeks and they never sent me anybody to clean my windows.
security: my car was broken into (in a covered parking area) and my cd player stolen. there was a murder in the summer 07. the community just hired some fake security guys that would parade (or sleep) in front of the gate for a month or two and then disapeared.
overall, i am sad to have seen the quality of this place drop down. i really liked my apt. i moved out in dec 07.

In response to a few items mentioned in this review: Our community employs a pest control company to visit the property weekly and residents are welcome to have their apartments treated as often as allowed by this company (usually biweekly is the maximum). Overall the response to our exterior renovation has been positive and we appreciate our residents's patience as a renovation of this scale is sure to have a few bumps along the way. The contractors we used were excellent in responding to resident issues and, now that the final inspection has been completed (and finishing details winding down) any paint has been removed from window panes and everything looks great. As any apartment management will tell you, safety is always the responsibility of the individual. We have several items in place to try and prevent such crime occurances including a new gate system, courtesy officers, and an upgraded lighting system in all areas of the community including covered parking but, ultimately, we have to let our residents be responsible for themselves and rely on Dekalb county for local law enforcement. If you have any questions, please contact the office at (404)633-4232.

The management told us that there would be 24/7 security after the murder and that they would put up security cameras. Guess what? No security, no cameras. The management here is dismissive and they don't care about your complaints once you move in. Please take anything written by them here with a grain of salt.

I think this is a bit misleading as Gables never made any promises of continual security and cameras. Yes, there was 24 hour security for awhile while the new gate system was installed and, after investigation, cameras were decided to not be the best solution for the community (other items were deemed more effective). Ultimately, the changes to the community have been very positive and most of our residents appreciate the new measures that have been taken (please see above). We encourage everyone to choose their home based on their personal feelings and factual information and we are more than happy to provide these resources to our current and prospective residents.
