Please read all of the reviews on here very carefully. This is not a safe place to live. It is in an industrial area several miles from Buckhead on the Old Buford Hwy. It is surrounded by strip clubs, rowdy divey Mexican bars, discount strip malls, etc, etc. It is gang central and many of the residents are drug dealers. The front gate does not usually work, but even when it does there are gang types going in and out and loitering around the property at all hours. There are constant police cars and ambulances going in and out due to assault and rape calls. You can do much better in Atlanta. If you can't afford to pay a biy more for a nice place, please consider moving out into the suburbs for your safety. Thanks & God bless.

We hope that our current and prospective residents will take the time to contact local law enforcement for accurate info regarding crime in and around the community. Gables requires all residents to undergo a criminal background check prior to move in and we have the right to request further checks if necessary after move in. I feel this review is a bit extreme especially related to the new gate system which we have received multiple compliments on and which is functional 24/7. If a problem with the gate did occur, we have maintenance available for this issue. Atlanta is filled with many different neighborhoods not all of which are right for every person. We are at an excellent location and there is much construction going on in the surrounding area which will impact the landscape of our neighborhood more and more in the coming years. Please let us know if you have questions about our community, use your own judgement and, as always, please take the riviews of this or any community WITH THE GRAIN OF SALT.

The gate works, but the arm is usually broken (for a week or so at a time) so people can follow you in all the time. As you can see, the management is very dismissive of peoples' complaints as well. DO NOT MOVE HERE.

We encourage our residents and their guests to use the gate system appropriately which includes not breaking the gate arm. Necessary repairs are made as quickly as possible...it may take a few days for a new gate arm to be delivered. The best way to avoid this problem is to not allow friends to follow you into the community and to pull up to the gate as it opens (not saying you are using it inappropriately but for those out there who may not know how gates are best utilized this is just some advice). On a side note, when I am pulling into the community where I live, I go through the gate slowly if someone is behind me and check my rear view mirror to make sure the arm drops before I move out of the way. This way I know I am not being followed in. Just a personal preference but it puts my mind at ease...maybe it would make you feel a bit more secure as well :)

I live in this community, and while I can agree on some points (yes there are strip clubs and bars) I have to disagree on some points. No, it's not rowdy within the complex. Occassionally, people used to park here and walk across the street to the club, which would leave some unsavory characters walking around here. But that has ended for the most part with the new gate and arm. Yes the arm is broken often, and is probably due to people speeding under it (I've seen it happen a few times). Lastly, rape calls? Constant police? I've been here for a year and haven't noticed it more here than other places I've been. To be fair, I do wish that management were more responsive to maintenance issues. That's an issue that they definitely need to work on, because they are terribly slow. Terrible! But other than that, for the price, it's a good value, and could get better if mgmt. would get their collective act together.

There was a rape here last night. A girl got abducted, raped and nearly killed by her NEIGHBOR! Are these the people you want to be your neighbors?
I agree with the guy above that mgt needs to get it together. Also, I mean, I'm terrified to live here last night and instead of letting me break my lease, mgt is doing nothing!

How is managment able to differintiate how crazy the victims neighbor is/was vs. how crazy you are? How can anyone forsee something like this happening? A place cannot be considered safe or unsafe...PEOPLE's actions make a place safe or unsafe. Frankly you make me feel unsafe...just cuz you cant have your way YOU may do something crazy...No one knows...I saw many people witness the girl running away but just watched her like idiots...THAT makes me feel unsafe. I have such heartless, complacent neighbors who sit back and do nothing!

It was featured on CBS last night, but I couldn't find any news about the attack today. The flyer that the complex provided states that there was an assault, and that it was not random, but that does not seem to be accurate from what I've heard from neighbors, and what the news reported. On the news they said that an Emory student was held against her will, raped, and that her throat was cut. She managed to get outside, and thankfully, received help right away. Those are facts that were reported by the CBS affiliate here in Atlanta. I was told by a resident that she was pushed back into her apartment by they neighbor, where she was attacked. And that when she ran out, he just went back to his apartment across the hall. That hasn't been confirmed, just what I heard. No matter what, how did this guy pass the background checks to live here?

I have lived in this community for almost 5 years. Around the time of the murder, it didn't feel like the safest place to live. However, with the changes around the community with the lights and the gates, it seems to be better. Although, I am amazed every single time I drive through the gate and the arm is broken off...obviously people don't care about someone else's property...don't you care about the vehicle you drive? I guess some people don't have a care in the world for keeping their vehicle nice...
I would like to know more about this "recent assault" that took place on Memorial Day. I was not at home, and have been searching all the news sites and newspapers and can't find anything. Was it a neighbor who attacked? Where was the girl running? I noticed 2 Crime Scene Investigation trucks entering the gate around 7pm last night, and Ladder 2 behind them...all to be parked at building 10.
My thoughts go out to the victim of the assault, and I wish her the best. If anyone has any facts about this assault, please post them.
Remember, hold your head high and look people in the eye.
Regarding the staff, sometimes my requests are fulfilled immediately, other times they have been closed out without even entering my apartment. Overall, I have been satisfied.

There are also a number of illegal criminal aliens that live under the bridge on Corporate Blvd behind the Pink Pony (extremely low class strip joint) that is across the street. Homeless illegals always adds to the quality of such a low class neighborhood along with all the apartment complexes full of illegals, drug dealers, gang members and other criminals (according to DeKalb Police officers in the area and crime stats).
