I cannot believe previous comments! I've lived here for three months in a 2b/2ba with one roommate and my dog. I am very happy with the layout - we both have very large closets and huge bathrooms. The kitchen, living room and dining room are well-planned a use space wisely. There is a balcony coming out from the living room and an even larger one coming out of my bedroom (the master) - both use the balconies a lot. Insects were a little much in August and September but the pesticide maintenance people came out upon each request of ours to help us keep the bugs out. We also live on the first floor and a wooded area backs the rear of our apartment so it's not much of a surprise that there are lots of insects, unfortunately. But they are under control now..

I take at least two long walks with my dog every day and I feel pretty safe for inner-city living (I'm female)- I would not however walk outside of the gates along Buford Hwy of course, but staying inside the complex is fine. The landscape is very nice and very well-maintained. There are lots of birds (lots of residents have birdfeeders on their balconies) and I even saw an owl the other night. Very strange, but nice. There's lots of shrubbery and especially now that fall is coming it's very pretty to be outside. There are sidewalks everywhere and open areas of grass. There must be at least 5-6 dog-pickup areas scattered around and most people pick up after their dogs. There is even a big area that has picnic tables and hanging swings where dogs are not allowed, which is nice for non dog-lovers I guess (and it's even cleaner). My dog and I run laps around the open area and the pool area where the pathways are straight.

Parking is not really an issue. There is a separate lot for guest parking and then lots of guest spaces spread out in the general parking areas. There are maybe 5 parking decks, too, but often they are kind of empty because unfortunately you have to pay $15 a month to park there, which a lot of people do not do. But it's an option at least.

The residents are diverse, majority are black and white, some Latins, some ------- and Asians, some families, some single people, some young (teens and twenties), some older. I haven't met too many but they all seem nice enough. There are lots of dog owners so those are the people my dog and I usually meet outside :)

Well I hoe I got the point across that this place is not ghetto. It is in a slightly questionable area of town (Pink Pony is right across the street...) but it's also in my mind the tip of Buckhead (which is a nice part of Atlanta) and a short drive from Midtown. Really it's a short drive from lots of areas because 85 is very very close. Heading South on Buford Hwy runs into Sidney Marcus and a new shopping area with a couple of restaurants, bars, Starbucks, Home Depot, Target, etc. Heading north on Buford Hwy runs into lots of Latin and other international restaurants and stores. Marta is very close to the complex, too, if that's important to you.

I really like it here and I can afford it :)

I actually live in the 300 building and have not heard of any rape, and I work from home so I'm here ALL the time, but if it did Gables should have sent out a notice to everyone about an 'incident occurence' of some sort even if they didn't share the details. The only complaint I have this month (november) is that right now it 1:30am and there is a LOUD fire alarm in a complex building right up from me that has been going on for over 30 minutes now. And I can see people out my window standing outside in the cold waiting for SOMEONE to turn the alarm off. That is really unfortunate for those who have to wake up early for work, or who have children...I'd be VERY angry. Another complex had an alarm issue a few weeks ago also... BUT - to back up this post, I don't think this complex is ghetto...little issues like the alarm thing can be irritating though...

im glad you're so oblivious to the facts.. in the 3 months i lived there (from june-august of this year..) a girl was raped by her neighbor in the 300 building and another girl caught a voyeur staring at her through her window and masturbating..gross. and the reason that no one parks in the garage is NOT the $15.00 ...its b/c that if you park down there, your car will get broken into.. best of luck to you..

There are also a number of illegal criminal aliens that live under the bridge on Corporate Blvd behind the Pink Pony (extremely low class strip joint) that is across the street. Homeless illegals always adds to the quality of such a low class neighborhood along with all the apartment complexes full of illegals, drug dealers, gang members and other criminals (according to DeKalb Police officers in the area and crime stats).
