Gables Lenox Hills formerly Lincoln Court at Druid Hills

Best price and quality for the location, but unsafe neighborhood

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
After two years at Gables, the Pros and Cons:
Pros:
* Super-easy access to pretty much anything, with I-85 and Buford right there
* Friendly residents - very involved and interested in the improvement of the community
* Relatively new buildings with few maintenance or bug issues
* Minimal noise, which is extraordinary considering the number of dogs
Cons:
* Rough area with serious crime issues - since I moved in here, there have been numerous car and apartment break-ins, a violent rape, and a murder (a botched robbery-turned-shooting). Since the murder, Gables improved the lighting, gate situation, and security presence, but as of this review in May 2009, management has grown lax on these issues and fails to show continued commitment to our safety. However, it must be understood that the problem is the neighborhood, not the residents, and that the apartments would probably be prohibitively expensive if Gables responded to every demand. Point being, you get what you pay for.
* High turnover rate in the leasing office, so you're never dealing with the same person for long
* The gate is ALWAYS broken and guests often block the resident entrance, a result of poor design.
Generally, I would recommend Gables Lenox Hills for being a reasonably-priced community that's convenient to much of central Atlanta, but would caution potential residents to take responsibility for their own safety and be aware of dangers in the neighborhood.
