I should have known

I have been living at Gables Lenox Hills for the past six months and my attitude towards the complex has declined. From day one I should have know that the situation would not get any better. Don't get me wrong, I love the actual apartment complex, my gripe is with the leasing office.
The people who work at the office are rude and useless. When you come into the office most of them will not even acknowledge you. You usually have to walk to one of their stations and begin talking to get noticed. I remember when I was signing my lease, the leasing rep, was too busy arguing with her boyfriend on the phone, that she was not answering any of my questions (I guess I should have known something was wrong then.) When I moved in, my apartment was not completely ready. I was assured that all the repairs would be complete by that weekend, but it actually took over a month to complete. I have learned through my own experience and the experiences of other residents, that this is very common.
The untimely repairs are not the maintenance workers fault, in fact I have met almost all of them and they are very nice and helpful. Again my gripe is with the leasing office. I have called in work orders that were never submitted. For example, I had a problem with my sink so I called in to get it fixed. Since I'm not a very pushing person, I gave it about 3 days. When the issue was still not fixed, I called in and spoke to the same guy (Joseph) who put in the original work order. He told me that he did not see it in his computer. When I told him I put the work order in with him originally, he then changed his story.
Speaking of calling in, good luck trying to reach them over the phone because they generally do not answer it. 90% of the time when I call the office I get the service center. So now, I actually walk to the office to get service. There has been a couple of times when I walked to the office and to my surprise, the office was staffed with leasing agents and none of them were busy assisting anyone. I have actually witness leasing reps hear the phone ring and deliberately ignore it.
Many other residents have complained about parking. However I don't really have that problem. I think it depends on which building you live in. I live close to visitor parking, so it is not that bad. I have been told that there are only 2 visitor parking lots, and if you do not live next to one, your visitor has to walk across the complex to visit you or they will get towed.
Again, the actual apartment is great. You get a nice apartment for a decient price and a good location. The problem comes when you have to deal with the leasing office. I did not realize how big of a part the leasing staff plays in everyday apartment living. If you can handle rude bad-mannered people on an almost everyday basis, then you should be fine. As for me, I will not be renewing my lease.
