Great location, but we deserve much more for what we pay

I agree with the negative comments posted on this site. However, I have not experienced damage to my car or severe noise. But that is probably due to my location. I have seen some shady characters who either live here or visit and I can imagine that things can get hairy if you end up with the wrong neighbors. In fact, about a month ago there were 3 police cars in the complex responding to some kind of fight. I believe it was a domestic dispute. I?m glad that the police responded, but that is exactly the kind of thing we pay big rent bucks to avoid.
The management here is really bad. They have been rude to me, and I have witnessed them being rude to others who come to view the place, especially Trudy. They also don't seem to know this complex very well even though it's not that difficult of a job. Moreover, the brochures are inaccurate.
The overall neighborhood is beyond seedy. And it's not that easily discoverable before you actually live here. If you're from out of town it's easy to miss at first just how run down the environment is. And it's not until you go to surrounding stores (Office Depot Complex, etc.) that you see things as they really are. One of the main reasons that I won't to leave here is the neighborhood. It's disheartening to live in a red light district.
There are definitely insects. I have not encountered any rodents, but there are insects a-plenty. When you get that something-is-crawling-on-me sensation, something IS in fact crawling on you. To be fair, the complex does exterminate. But you have to get it done every week to maintain a somewhat bug free existence.
The complex (use to) put out a monthly newsletter that residents did not receive until the middle of the month. The newsletter really doesn't say much, but even worse, it does not give the residents a voice. If the management provided residents a way to give feedback, we wouldn't have to resort to sites like this.
There is only one place to dump trash and it is a distance from all but one building. For what we pay, there should be valet trash pick up. Other complexes have it and this one should too. It is dangerous to have people go to the back of the complex and throw trash away. Not to mention it's just unnecessarily burdensome, especially given the fact that there are several employees whose job seems to be polishing fire extinguishers. These people could take out the trash once a week. Other places also provide maid service for $25 a week.
There are no fun resident events. Other complexes have brunches every Saturday, mid-week cooking classes, personal trainers. For what we pay, we should get the same type of treatment. Instead we have a few hardly attended events. Apartment living could be a great way to meet other people, but this apartment complex is certainly not managed to produce this result.
The gate is crazy. It has been broken so many times and has nearly hit my car on numerous occasions. Plus, we still get Chinese menus on our door so apparently someone is able to get in despite the gate unless the delivery person lives here.
Parking is decent, although people sometimes block walkways to park and occasionally there is no parking near where you live. However, it's great to have covered parking.
On a positive note, the location is great. You can get downtown in about 10 minutes with traffic, you can get to Lenox/Phipps in 15 minutes, you can get to Perimeter Mall in 20 minutes. It's close to everything.
The apartments are also beautiful both inside and out. Everyone who visits me and even movers and delivery people are impressed with the design. The arches give the place an upscale look and the double vanity bathroom is great (although the lighting is dim).
Maintenance is responsive, down to changing light bulbs. Problems are resolved relatively quickly and residents receive a follow up phone call from staff to make sure the maintenance situation was remedied. This is one good thing that the housing management does.
For those without a washing machine and dryer this place is convenient because one is included. If you have one, it's a hassle because, unlike other places, the management here refuses to move them or discount your rent.
The theatre is absolutely wonderful, and the party room is nice too, although small. The fitness room is ok, but the cardio equipment is cheap.
I looked at a lot of locations and chose Lindbergh place primarily based on the location and the design. If being close to downtown is really not an issue for you, I would suggest you find a better place. Otherwise, this is a pretty good place to start.
