After a thorough apartment hunt, my fiancé and I moved into our unit at the end of May 2002. We used an apartment finder service (ProMove on Roswell Road our agent, Keri Leabo, was terrific) to supplement our own city-wide search and were unable to find a better fit to our housing needs than Lindbergh Place. We have found Lindbergh Place to be above our expectations on just about everything that we care about. As with everything in life, trade-offs exist. We found the location, convenience, and quality of Lindbergh Place to be worth the price. As a bonus, the apartment staff (management and maintenance) has been remarkably responsive to our questions, concerns, and needs. The complex is beautiful, and many of our friends have mentioned that the property feels like a high quality resort with its manicured grounds, huge pool, and impressive gym.
Although our complaints are negligible, we have recognized a few problems. First, moving in to our apartment was a chore. The loading zones are centrally located in the complex, and this can be a huge pain if your unit is near the periphery of the property. The pet deposits are steep ($750 for one cat, $1000 for two) but they are 100% DEPOSITS. Unlike every other property in the city that we checked out, a large proportion of their pet deposit is non-refundable. Additionally, although our unit is located on the second floor of a four story building, we have not had any problems with noise. Very infrequently, we can hear our upstairs neighbor walking around, but it has not been a problem. Also, the major appliances provided with the rental unit are brand new and can be a bit noisy, but the noise is a fair trade-off for having a washing machine and dryer in our apartment. Finally, the neighborhood is not ideal for leisurely strolls at dusk, but having a wide assortment of incredible restaurants, bars, music venues, etc. in the near vicinity justifies this loss.
Regardless of which property you choose, we suggest picking up a police report for the complex. These forms are very inexpensive ($0.25/page) and provide a lot of information about your future home. If you are interested in obtaining a free copy of the police report for Lindbergh Place (for events leading up to May 2002), feel free to contact us via email wilso294@msu.edu and we can fax a copy to you.
Overall, we HIGHLY recommend Lindbergh Place.
