Two things to be aware of: (1) It is now Section 8 housing (the leasing office does not want you to know this, but it is publicly accessible information), and (2) there was a Crime Scene Cleanup truck parked outside the leasing office this morning. Hmmmm.... g-hKOS7s4Nq5n3hEIpHd

It's funny that you posted this comment. I live in phase 3 of Gables Metropolitan and also saw the news broadcast yesterday. It gave me chills! After seeing this on the news, I've looked all of the internet to see if I could find information and I have not located ANYTHING. This is so weird! When I left for work this morning, I saw a fire and rescue truck parked at phase 3. I am not sure as to what transpired this morning, but I would love to know. It is my opinion that the apartments at Gables Metropolitan are over-priced. The crime rate around there has risen and I really don't feel safe there. The gates to the hallways are not secure. Whenever I go into the laundry room, I don't feel safe. Then, on top of that, that have increased the pricing. The parking garages are always DIRTY. Our parking garage has throw-up that has been there for weeks. It has just about dried up, but noone from the complex has taken the time to clean it up. There is often garbage that sits around for weeks. There is often trash around the mailbox area. When I decided to pay extra money to live in a decent place, I didn't realize that it is no better than any other place around Dunwoody.

OMG I live in this property as well (Phase 2). I came home yesterday and noticed the crime scene clean up crew and police officers who just directed me that I was not able to go through the way I go to get to my apartment. I am seriously saying this for all its worth..... Its time that these type properties stop allowing themselves to get money hungry by allowing thugs and hoodlums and trailer trash to live here. Its a reason that these type people live in the slums and trailer parks. I can not wait till my lease is up in less than 2 months. This place is a ghetto/slum.

Yesterday around 5:15 the Atlanta Fox News broke into the broadcast saying there was a reported stabbing death at Gables Metropolitan in Dunwoody. My boyfriend and I were home & concerned so we walked outside to the old complex (we live in the new) and towards the back near the clubhouse there were several police cars and two crime scene units.
We weren't given any information from the police and shortly returned home. There were several camera men from local news stations on site but no reporters (that we saw). Late last evening and this morning we were looking all over the internet & news broadcasts in hopes of getting more information but couldn't find anything regarding the incident.
I assume that the leasing office will send out a notice to tenants that "a crime" was committed (as required by law) but I doubt any specifics will come from the office. If anyone has additional information, this might be a good forum to post...so please do.

The information I was given was that a girl in the 7000 building commited suicide. I heard it was a fatal stabbing also, but I was told today (Oct. 1st) that it was a suicide. Also, I do agree with the all of your comments regarding this apt. complex leasing to thugs and trailer park trash!!!!!! I live in bldg 8000 and in the past 2 weeks there have been two different couples fighting with eachother and you can hear everything. I mean they were screaming at the top of their lungs! I even saw other people coming out of their apt.'s to see what the hell was going on! I mean can these people be any lower class and disrespectful????? What is going on at this place?

I sure hope when Dunwoody becomes a city in December that they do something about all the apartments going up or at least convert some to condos or tear em down because this riff raff type of people dont belong around here! The complex is really starting to get creepy and thuggish, maybe not so much in the brand new phase, although it could be headed the same way if they are letting everybody and their cousin move in here.

I have been meaning to write a thorough review and this is my opportunity to express some of my frustration. I fully agree with everyone - we live in a GHETTO! We pay a very high rent rate to get quality and upscale living. The upscale is only disguised by the luxurious pool - other than that, look around...I live in Phase 3 - wow! beautiful pool and cool gym, huh? again look around: the hallways have not been cleaned in over a year! Neighbors constantly leave the trash bags outside their doors; the stairs are never cleaned so you will find all kinds of gross objects, like dirty Q-tips; the elevator _ OMG - the elevator is so disgusting! It has not been cleaned since I moved a year ago - there are hand-prints, lipstick prints, dog-pee stains and last week, someone stuck a piece of gum on the door - that piece of bright green gum was there for an entire day, and removed after I called to complain. C'mon folks! Grocery store carts - from Walmart to Target - are left behind in the hallways and parking lot! GHETTO! I signed a contract for two years and I struggle day after day thinking about my decision. My carpet has shrunk and it is wrinkled and no one has yet come to fix it - keep in mind the apartment is no more than 2 years old. The glass cover for the light fixture in the master bathroom has fallen TWICE in one year - crashing into a million pieces- very frightful experience and we are thankful it did not fall on us! BTW, it has not been replaced and it has been over 3 weeeks ago. This is place is a total DUMP. They are giving an $800 referral fee, but folks, how can someone refer anyone to this disgusting dump? And regarding section 8 - that is what all the responsible residents talk about - there no concern about who moves in, the adminstrators could care less about the welfare of the residents, all they care about is the $$$$.

I live in the 7000 building and talked to one of the investigators... It was a suicide. No need to start "OMG PEOPLE ARE BEING MURDERED" rumors. I've liked living in my apartment so far (I've only been here a month), but I have pretty quiet neighbors (who by the way are mid 20's females, not "thugs" as you put it), maintenance came in 30 minutes to replace the battery in my beeping smoke detector, and the apartment is gorgeous. If you all think this is the ghetto- I would love for you to move into the Commons at Victoria Park (which are only 50 dollars less a month for a one bedroom).
