Need opinions of phase 2, considering moving in

We are considering moving in and I would like opinions on a few things. I have read most of the reviews on the site and they do not paint a pretty picture. I told the leasing agent that my primary concern was safety, but I know that she will only tell me good things. Here is what I am dealing with now and I am hoping that the Gables would be safer than this. Currently, I live in Buckhead in a Post property. In August, over the lunch hour, I left my apartment for 2 hours and when I returned my door had been broken down and over $7,000 worth of my things had been stolen. The complex offered to let me move to another apartment in the complex, but nothing more. It would have cost me at least $500 to move and they were not willing to help contribute to that cost. My neighbors apartment had been broken into as well and they didn't even want to call her home from work I basically had to make them call her. Then about a month later we came home from lunch on a Saturday and we were not allowed into the complex. My building and the one in front of it were surrounded by at least 50 police officers and a SWAT team. They had snipers and broke down the door in the building in front of me with one of those huge battery rams. After about 2 hours they let us back in and told us nothing happened'!' Since then many of the tenants in my building have moved out and they sold the property to another company. So my questions regarding safety include:
1. As far as car break ins - have the cars that were broken into had items laying out that someone would want to steal and did you have a car alarm'
2. To your knowledge have any apartments been broken into in Phase 2'
3. Has anyone been attacked or robbed on the Property'

As far as noise, I can hear the guy above me pee every morning too. I think that is common in apartments. As far as noise in the middle of the night, do the police respond'

Dog poop, I could care less about. I would call the dog owner out on that.

Overall, the community looks nice, seems like it is in a good area and we can afford it. We really want to move in there, but I am worried about the safety part. Any feedback you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

My wife and I have lived here at Gables Metropolitan for a year; happily renewed. We would not live here if it was not perfectly safe for my wife. Maybe heard two minor parties, at the times one would expect...halloween, New Years...not long, late, or real loud. Very happy with management, never met a resident we did not like. Saw a car with stolen tires once (hugely expensive ones) and a vintage corvette was stolen. Never heard of a home break in, never saw cars with brojen windows. A nice peaceful place to live, plenty of excellent shopping of all variety just around the corner.

I live in Phase 2 and yes there have been car break ins since I have been here and I have been here for quite awhile. The walls are paper thing I can hear everything the person that lives upstairs above me do. This place is not worth the money at all. I am a SF. One thing I do not like is maintenance coming into my apartment w/o notifying me and this has happen to me and neither did I ask them to come over to my apartment to fix anything. I realized this when I came home from lunch one day and someone was going though some keys to get in my apartment. I had the deadbolt on so they could not get in but the fact no note was left after they attempted to enter really freaks the crap out of me. I cannot help to wander how many times they have been doing this. Also the stuff in this apartment is really cheap/crap quality. My apartment is falling apartment. I cannot wait to move out of here.

As a former tenant of Gables Metropolitan, I can DEFINITELY assure you that there are cases of car theft and minor issues. But nothing major so long as you and your wife are able to sustain a "non broadcasting" lifestyle. In other words, everyone who has had a vehicle broken into at the Gables enjoy show boating (or flossing). But thats with anywhere you live. If you don't give criminals opportunity to know what you have and pocess, they don't bother trying to find out. :)

If you want you can request from Dekalb county a crime report (it's public records). Just list Madison Dr (which is Phase 1/2) and a zip of 30346. That is the best way to be 100% sure without any hearsay, and you might be surprised (it will list anytime a police officer was called over).

Lets not be to obvious Savannah. You can check Dekalb on them as well and see what really goes on.

You are crazy to consider this place. Many car break ins...but worse than that, the worst office staff on earth. If you want nothing but a headache, move right on in and support Advil's bottom line...

I do feel safe here and I have never seen anyone's car broken into or here of any break in's. The noise is not too bad where my apartment is located, but I can here the fan in the bathroom of my neighbor's downstairs. I do like the fact that there are 2 deadbolts on the door. The top lock you can only unlock if you are inside. My problem is the rat situation that they are taking care of.... after I went to the regional manager. The staff sucks, but EVERY apartment is going to have problems. There is no perfect place. If you want to take a chance with having a rat as a roommate, then move here! ;)

Try Savannah at Park Place, I am a SF and lived there for 3 years- very safe, quiet (never heard my neighbors) - it is in the same area. K

Also, after I moved out, I heard that someone was stabbed there......a lot of thugs hang out there at night. And there's nothing stopping them because the security guard there is non existent and the gates rarely worked.

Gablesisterrible- That review is laughable at best. I'm a 22 year old SF, and I have NEVER been scared to walk my dog in this complex. The lady who died (the one you think was "stabbed") was two floors below me- she committed suicide, it wasn't a violent crime. It was the 7000 building, and I spoke with one of the detectives. Get your facts straight before you start writing a bunch of bs on here. The security guard is constantly patrolling, and the gates haven't worked ONCE in the six months that I've been here. Anyway, look, on this site, VERY RARELY do you get non-biased reviews (I started up this account to rail on an apartment complex that I lived in because it was so terrible... If there's a way to look up the reviews I've given, you're more than welcome to look. I say this to prevent the "OMG YOU'RE FROM THE OFFICE" statements that a lot of these people like to give). I enjoy living here. My neighbors are really nice- I VERY RARELY hear anything (aside from music every once in a blue moon, but that's what you get for apartment living). This is a very safe complex to live in, and the office staff isn't composed of the 8-headed beasts that everyone makes them out to be. I've had ZERO problems with them. Go talk to Julie, she's who did my lease, and she did everything in her power to make my move easy. Good luck apartment hunting!

I'm moving into the complex in 2 weeks and Julie helped me too. Very sweet and knowledgeable. Hopefully this will continue when I move in.

I am a 22 at also and I feel incredibly safe living here! The doors have 2 dead bolts and security guards patrol at night. I have never been scared to walk my dog at night. I have heard of a few car break-INS but I received a notice saying not to leave any valuables showing and lock the doors. Security made an effort to watch the car decks more frequently and the problem stopped. I haven't heard of any apartments break-INS. I love loving here and I'm sure you will too. Remember most people come to these sites to complain.
