I moved into Gables two years ago, and I have been happy with my overall experience. Just a few negatives: DirecPath/DirecTV is horrible to deal with and you have no options, Chinese menus are on your door every day, which is bad if you're away from home for a few days because it lets everyone know you're away. Also, the fire alarm went off at 1am a couple of times, and there is no worse sound and no worse way to wake up and have to stand out in the cold. The leasing staff is touch-and-go. I have had some very nice agents and some very rude ones. The turnover there is unbelievable, so I rarely deal with the same person twice.
Positives: the maintenance guys are very friendly and even helped me move in a big piece of furniture. The layout of my apartment is perfect, and the rent price is not bad considering my large one-bedroom floor plan. The gym in Phase 3 is awesome and saved me a $40 gym membership each month. The pools are nice but turn into too much of a party scene on summer weekends. I love that you have a parking deck instead of a parking lot. I can live on the third floor and never deal with stairs.

I agree the turnover is out of out of sight. When you deal with office staff, get their name and keep track of what was said. Make sure, when you move out, that you do a walk through with one of the staff members. Take pictures to protect yourself from unjust charges.
