Ok folks! So for those of you who are sooooo tired of the apartment industry's overuse of the word "luxury"... then Gables Midtown is a place you must check out. I relocated here from NoVA/DC area in May 2009 for work. Having been a multiple homeowner used to better quality finish materials, I was nervous about having to be back in apartment living. After focusing my rental search on private luxury condo listings, I stumbled on Gables Midtown last... and by sheer happenstance. I left the leasing office that evening realizing "this is the place." The complex is brand new. I was one of the first tenants - and, in fact, the final units in the building are being finished for lease up. So, I accepted and lived with some realities of a construction site. But don't get me wrong. The Gables managed creating a positive living experience, despite continued construction.

Gables Midtown has finished their apartment interiors with a designer feel by painting them with a warm, neutral paint scheme, featuring contrasting trim color and 1 accent wall color in the main living area - no more boring "builder" white. The additional designer/luxury style touches include coordinating granite for kitchen AND for bathroom counter tops; coordinating 16" stone-like floor tile with matching tub/shower surrounds in baths; contemporary maple cabs in kitchen and baths; tile backsplash with stainless accent appliances in kitchens; and upgraded brushed nickel/chrome style hardware and plumbing fixtures. There's even a coordinated "master bedroom" ceiling fan, track lighting, vanity lighting and kitchen island/bar pendant lighting. Amenities' How about a 24-hr gym with skyline views of Buckhead that also features a 2nd level lounge and kitchenette with access to a great rooftop terrace/lounge where Gables has hosted community events. Additionally, while I haven't taken a swim yet, the outdoor pool and sundeck area is beautiful.

Note, I gave not quite 5 stars for "Noise". That's not for the noise in apartments. The build quality appears way above the standard suburban type apartment - even using concrete between floors. That said, there will always be limitations in this type of communal living. Yes, I have occasionally heard mild "thumping" sounds through the floor from the tenant above me (seems like a slightly "heavy" walker). The real thing about noise is realizing Gables Midtown is "city living". It's proximity to 85 results in road noise, despite what appear to be a higher-grade insulated window. Yet, after being here and seeing the convenience to true Midtown, Ansley, Virginia Highlands, Piedmont Park and Buckhead... I wouldn't trade that road noise that is now becoming "white noise" I've gotten used to.

Staff'' Everyone has been phenomenal! There's Aisha, Emily, Robert, Ian and Bobby... and they are all very friendly and helpful whenever I needed anything... or just felt like stopping in for coffee down at the business center. It's funny, because sometimes you see surprise from prospects as they see how cheery the staff is and how we all use each other's names. Likely, it's because it's a new lease-up... but it has resulted in a very friendly/social atmosphere. As for maintenance - I only had two requests - both that were responded to and taken care of within the same day!

All-in-all... a great experience so far!
