I moved out of the complex in August '05 because of a break-in. I moved in March '05 and initially liked the place. It wasn't dirty, I was able to afford a two bedroom apartment, it came with a new washer and dryer, and it was close to my work. I never had to ask maintenance to do anything so I can't attest to their efficacy. That being said, I started to have some problems. My apartment was broken into just as I came back from an international trip. I was sleeping off the travel and the jet lag when it happened in the late afternoon. I did not wake up when my window was broken but did when the police showed up a few minutes later and asked me for identification. Luckily all my belongings were recovered unharmed and my window was replaced quickly by the complex. The next break-in happened a few months later, while I was out of town. This time just the window was broken. It was also replaced very quickly . The third time I was home again and called the police immediately. Long story, but I ended up stabbing one of the intruders with a steak knife. The police eventually did catch the two guys and I imagine they won't do it again. Needless to say, it was a scary experience and I had to move immediately. The management was helpful during this time. They let me stay in the model apartment and let me break my lease. That being said, I'm not sure how the new management is as I was leaving just when they got there. When I moved there, the complex itself wasn't bad at all. The crime definitely happened because my apartment was on the bottom floor and facing the woods. There are a number of shady apartments in the vicinity that contribute to crime. It you need to move here, I suggest you absolutely don't get a ground floor apartment and always be aware of your surroundings.
