Almost everyone who I have talked to who has lived, live, or have looked at the apartment complex experience problems with the leasing office staff. I had my apartment flooded from a gasket on the 2nd floor. I had to take off work to save things in my apartment (lost $280 dollars for taking off work). The staff came in shortly after and took the padding out of my apartment and left the carpet which was still soaked. I had to move everything out of my bedrooms and live out in the living room. My apartment reeked of a wet mildew smell which got worse day after day. I had to live with the unbearable smell for 4 days. When I went in to the leasing office and ask them if I would have me rent prorated the told me "no". They explained to me that my apartment was still liveable without ever even coming in to check my condition. Finally the 2nd day after the a long day of work I told them they need to come in and actually see and smell my living condition. When she came in to my apartment she cringed in discust of the smell and sight of my condition. After 3 times asking if my rent would be prorated they still said no. It was over a $120 dollar loss to them. I have been living here for 1 yr. 8 months. I always paid rent on time and have never been a problem. I lost a lot more then $120 throught the process and the money meant nothing to me, I was just very disappointed in the treatment I had received. I intend to sue because I would never wish the situation I went through on anyone. Lastly, I do appreciate the maintenance crew, I think they are very nice.

Call the Department of Health.

That wont do any good now that the carpet has been replaced. I have video coverage of my living conditions for the four days and I have 4 witness's for the way it smelt. Appreciate the advice though, wish I would have called the department of health during the incident, but I couldnt think clearly with the smell I experienced and the frustration I had for the leasing office.
