I have lived at HP since September of 2000.
My initial problem was that they gave my apartment to someone else, and to get a good location for another apartment, my move-in was delayed by 2 months.
The apartment size and functionality are great. If you don't have bug problems or if you don't have to deal with the office, things are pretty good. I have not had any problems with break ins to the apartment or to cars, thankfully. I have only heard of one apartment break-in since I've lived here, so I don't know if the others are true or not. The price is very good for the location - convenient to everything. The bills are a bit high, as you pay for everything. They advertise in certain places that they pay for sewer, but mysteriously, it ends up on very your expensive water bill. No insulation, so your gas and electric bill skyrocket. Summer electric bills are around $175 and gas bills are around $200 in the winter.
The neighborhood in general is slowly appearing less appealing. Junk on patios, cars being worked on in the parking lots, delapidated buildings & gutters, etc., making it look like projects. Are they still doing credit checks'!'!'!
I have not had problems up until my current 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment. I have transfered apartments almost each year due to different circumstances of my own. I got into my current apartment in March. It is a terrace level, and although they have widened the patio drains, my apartment still floods in a heavy rain. It doesn't help that the gutters pour all of the water into my patio either. I let management know about this, but they elected to tell me they fixed it when they really hadn't. They never came to do any clean up even after I requested it.
In the back of the apartment along a downspout, the water was infiltrating into my wall and molding over. That sat for about 2 or 3 months and was fixed twice, as they fixed my wall, but not the cause the first time around. DUMB. No problems with the wall since then.
HERE is the kicker. About a month after I moved into this apartment, I started noticing a sewer gas smell in my master bathroom. I reported it MANY MANY MANY times to management. They never did anything about it except to come to the apartment twice and say they didn't smell anything. ALL of my friends and my roommate and I can smell it 24/7, and it is VERY potent. The new manager came out and HE didn't smell it either. The maintenance SUPERVISOR didn't smell it either. Hahahahaa. Recently, I have written letters to management and the new owners, CnC Investments, with threats of calling the Health Department, Code Enforcement, etc. They still didn't do anything. I finally got a call and set up a meeting with the Regional Manager on 9/25 saying he would take care of the problem. He had 4 things he was going to do. He sent someone to my apartment to fix the problem, and the guy found something wrong with the drain in the sink. He repaired that and left. The next day, the smell is still there. I notified management again in writing and have still not heard anything. I don't know what I have to do to get these idiots to do something. I feel like my health could be at risk. All I can say is that I can't wait until my lease is up.
D O N O T M O V E H E R E ! ! ! !
