My fiance at the time and I lived in Hartford Place in two separate apartments a few years ago. We had a couple of maintenance problems. I seem to recall thinking the repairmen took a long time to get to the air conditioning thermostat that needed replacing (about ten days or two weeks I think). Aside from these, there were two break-ins while we were there, one a home invasion. There was also an incident where a tenant's auto was stolen after he was pistol-whipped.

Regarding the maintenance, renters sign contracts that outline the relationship between the leasors and leasees. Rentors pay money to make sure things in their apartments work properly, especially if the issue is regarding important appliances like thermostats in hot months. Surely Mr. "Anonymous" didn't have any problems like this. Although homeowners must pay for their own maintenance, they can do as soon as they need to. When you rent, you are typically not allowed to make repairs, and the management company is bound (typically- read your contract) to make repairs within a certain amount of time.

The other incident I recall was that my wife (fiance at the time) was told she could rent an apartment in the same unit as mine. She specifically told them this was a very important attribute of the property she was to rent. Upon receiving the contract, the unit was different. They aparently rented the unit in my bldg to someone else. We were very unhappy with this, but I think they found another in the same unit as mine, or they made the other renter give his/her place back.

I would have to say that I am glad I won't be living in an apartment again. However, if I had to do it all over again knowing what I know now, I would probably rent from Hartford Place Apts. again. The rent was cheap. However, I would certainly not live there if I had family living with me.

This place sucks in terms of management..SOme of the staff like Haleema talk in a bad-temper and behave rude...they have to undergo some management/behavioural therapy...
