I moved in on October 16th, 2008 and got broken into on October 31st, 2008. Now I had received comments about this complex before but I had no choice. They were not doing a credit check and I said I would see for myself. It wasn't even a month yet and I have this tragic incident happen. I walked into my home on Friday morning after taking care of some business. When I walked in I smelled liquor (mind you I do not drink). At first I thought it was the maintenance man. (In which I would have been complaining because they should not be in my home working and drinking at the same time.) I walked through my home and noticed that my dining room and my kitchen was rumbled through. I heard movement upstairs, so decided to go and see what it was... still thinking that it might be maintenance. Low and behold, there was a guy in my daughters room and then one in my sons room. I asked them to leave my home nicely and then called the authorities. These men took three pieces of jewelry, $200 of my childrens allowance, and $700 towards my rent that I would have been paying that Saturday, November 1st. The cops came and took my report. I went down to the leasing office to let them know what had happened. The agent I spoke with called maintenance and explained what had happened... Maintenance acted like they didn't care... "well, I'll see what I can do" was his exact words. Their result was two hard wooden sticks at the bottome of both of my patio doors.. (this is how the thieves got in as per police investigation) Mind you, we did a walk through the day of signing, plus I wrote a list of items again that has needed to be fixed and presented it to them on that Monday 10/19/2008. The patio doors was on it. Now they are asking for their rent, late fees, and a pet fee, because temporarily my mom brought her dog up for my family's protection. They said I violated my lease. They should have not beed negligent in doing their job. They even want to now come and start doing work on my home that should have been done almost a month ago. (why because they getting ready for court') I had taken off of work on that friday and all I kept thinking was: what if my son (whom comes home first) had gotten home and these men guys were still in my home' how many times do I have to be worried if my children are going to be alright in the apartment while I am at work trying to make a living for my family' I be done lost my job. I am really trying to get out of my lease. I am looking for something else at this point.
