I've been there, so don't you do it

I moved to Atlanta for school and got a recommendation from a friend to move into Highland Ridge. The initial apartment I was leased was not ready when I got to the city. I walked into it and there was a pile of rubble in the living room and the place smelled like an autopsy. I was quickly moved to another place. The staff "when I first moved" was excellent and they gave me a lot of breaks being that I used my school refund to pay rent. From the time I moved in my closet doors were off the hinges and they were NEVER put back on. The air conditioning was faulty, so the first week I had to keep my heat on to melt the ice off. It was July at the time. The whole time I was there I could here EVERY SINGLE THING my neighbors did. The apartment was in the side of a hill, so there was a problem with mosquitos, flies, gnats and ANTS. The storage closet floor was covered with them before the exterminator came. MAINTENANCE WOULD NEVER FIXED ANYTHING IN MY APARTMENT.....EXCEPT a sinkhole that formed at the entrance to my apartment. I almost fell into it and they had to get a specialist to repair the floor because it had rotted down to the foundation. The refrigerator, stove and dishwasher were the smallest I have ever seen and the most outdated appliances in existence. I manually defrosted my freezer monthly to make room to store frozen items. I was only able to use two of the four burners on my stove. The most surprising thing to me was that the upstairs window was bolted shut. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. If there was a fire and I was upstairs, I would have died because I wouldn't be able to get out the window. The "shared patio", if you want to call it that, was filled with trash and I had to have discarded furniture removed which took 3-4 months to have done. Around January, the staff did one of their many changes and they NEVER HELPED ME WITH ANYTHING. The last straw was when I told them I was having a problem with my school giving me a refund and the staff could care less. They never told me who I could speak to to keep my place. Needless to say after that I didn't care either, so I gathered my belongings and moved to a better place. I wished I had found this site before I moved in because according to popular opinion this place is horrible.
