I have never lived here, but I almost signed a lease because the units are really nice. But before signing I made a quick phone call to the police dept. to find out crime stats and I was astonished as to how many incidents have occured. In 2003 there were 50 incidents; mainly auto theft and larceny with 3 apt. break ins. In 2004 there has already been 32 incidents (and its only been 5 months) and so it looks like the mgt. haven't done anything to remedy the crimes. As much as I loved the apt., safety comes first. Definitely think twice before signing that lease. The officer whom I spoke with said that it is not like this everywhere in Midtown, he suggested not living directly off of Ponce as that is where a lot of crime occurs.
