Notice: Highlands on Ponce is a very unsafe building to live in. There is no security. Yes they have cameras, but why' Nobody is watching the grounds, hence my car being broken into once, and my roomates THREE times since January. This is no way to live for @ $1000 a month. Homelessness and prostitution plague this area, and THERE IS NO SECURITY. A homeless man sleeps in front of your juliette doors on the bottom floor. Used condoms in the parking garage, this morning NO EXAGERRATING, 6 car breakins, that is why I am warning everyone interested. Notice the shattered glass covering the garage floor week after week. Management and owner Lane Company, do not care, nor provide security. A lone security guard for the whole complex was only hired for two weeks, after about 5 cases of car vandalism and theft occurred this past January, as a "buffer" and to shut residents up. By the way, that same security guard came in the gym to watch some tv around 1am one morning when I was working out, guess he was bored.

Car vandalism and theft has happened several times since, and NOT ONE thing has been done. I am livid and so are many tenants. If there is anything positive written, it must be from the staff that works here. It is disgusting how people just don't care. Forget friends or family parking before the gate. Since they are not permitted to park IN the gate, you can be sure their cars will be violated and destroyed. So what are they supposed to do''''' I urge you never to walk the grounds alone. This is an unsecured area and you are at your own risk. There has also been a RAPE last week on Argonne ave., do you remember the big car chase on the news' That was one block away. There is a significant problem in this area of midtown. Choose another apartment complex or check with the police to see where in this area is safer to live.

Also, they lie to you when showing this apartment if you ask if it is secure. Flat out lie. I guess they need their commision. The pool was one of the reasons I chose this place, unfortunately, I won't swim in a pool with garbage from the night before. I've been to the pool only once, also because of the stench of garbage that is overflowing the trashcans.

Apts are pretty good as far as hearing neighbors. They should require carpet for the above floors though. Staff is very polite, but in complete denial.
