Let's see, I am NOT new to Midtown so let's start with that. Let's see these are just the MAJOR problems with Icon, Extremely Poor Design, Construction! There is NO insulation in the walls OR ceilings or floors so you hear EVERYTHING that goes on including fights, drug deals, & constant loud music basically 24 hours a day! Trash! We used to have Trash Valet a service that used to keep the Trash down at least but they say people complained about the 25.00 fee. I say Icon & Lane Company should have absorbed the fee or risk health department violations(yes it is that bad!)!
Noise! We all know Atlantic Station is an up & coming metropolitan area so some noise is to be expected but you have people standing out on their balconies at 3 & 4 in the morning yelling down to people on the street (more on that in a second)! Because of the issues with the call boxes & management wanting to charge 50.00 for each additional Keyfob you need for security when the drunken roomates come home they pull their cars in front of the bldg & HONK their horns and YELL upstairs for the roomates to let them in! Their roomates, boyfriends, girlfriends etc then YELL back! This happens at least 2 times per week DURING the weekday!!! Its like something out of a Will Ferrell or National Lampoon Movie!
Security is NON-EXISTENT here! We are supposed to have a security officer at all times & I have been here several months & seen a rent a cop in a old beat up car ONCE! For what we pay every month there is NO reason for us to have to pay to personally install alarm systems in what is supposed to be a secure bldg!
Construction, not only are the construction workers the main ones responsible for the poor conditions in the parking deck, BUT the bldg itself is extremely poorly constructed. The carpet is cheap, the counters are cheap laminate, the faucets are PLASTIC, the closet shelves are not even installed properly & they WILL fall on you! The dishwasher & the refrigerator are the noisiest things & the cheapest ones they could find! They have replaced our security doors TWICE since I have been here already & it took them TWO WEEKS to reinstall the doors this time & by the time they finished there was mold & rust up underneath pretty much all the door sills!
A seriously MAJOR problem is parking & access! We do NOT have a call box that allows us to let OUR guests or even much more importantly say Ambulance, Fire Crews, or the Police that we have to call rather frequently (I for 1 have called them 6 times for break-ins, noise complaints, & one urgent medical emergency & we have to PHYSICALLY send someone downstairs to let them in! This is an purely UNSAFE environment & I hope Lane Co is prepared for the lawsuit for negligence that will surely follow the next time emergency crews cannot get in the bldg!
Management, with the exception of 2 people(& they are NOT the ones that most of you ignorant & racist people would suspect) the rest of the staff if extremely rude & uncaring, & unprofessional! If you are not careful you will wake up 1 day & find them in your apartment WITHOUT your permission!!! I have had this happen to me TWICE already & literally had to threaten to call the police for them to stop this unethical & dangerous practice.
Maintenance here sucks & I really do believe we have like 1 person doing maintenance for this entire complex. The cleaning people are nice BUT there is not NEARLY enough of them to keep such a large complex clean! Somedays this place reminds me of the Carter Projects in New Orleans with how Ghetto it is & guess what its NOT always whom you think that makes it that way! Did I mention that we have NO freight elevator''' So moving in & out in a real chore & forget having furniture or electronics delivered! The clearance in the parking deck is so poor that even the smallest uhaul trucks CANNOT get in to the parking deck! The fitness center is truly a JOKE.(the size & the equipment are a users WORST nightmare) Our business Center consists of TWO pc's(for a complex this size & with this many students Lane Co needs their asses whooped for such a poor design! The a piece o'schitt printer that most of the time DOES not work at all(it is almost always out of toner) & the fax line is NON-EXISTENT! We are supposed to have wireless by the pool & in the business areas but good luck trying to get a signal or get assistance when its not working which is more that is IS working!
The ONLY saving grace of this dreadful place is the location! That is it! I would NEVER EVER recommend Icon to anyone at all! And I will NEVER move into another property built or maintained by the Lane Co! No plans to renew lease & by the time I finish the 6 months I have left on my current lease will be a figment of THEIR imagination!
