La Jasmina

This property has clearly been downgraded which is why Worthington either sold it or turned the management over to Lyon. The previous owner/mgt was mostly white, fey and professional. Now the leasing consultants barely speak English. This is a clear sign that Jasmine has been planned to become a Hispanic community, La Jasmina. When the Se Habla Espanol signs go up it is all over. Before you think me racist let me say that the wonderful couple who headed up the community affairs here at Arbors/Jasmine and were quickly fired by Lyon after being promised by Lyon they could keep their jobs (they had the chance to go to another Worthington property but such was their loyalty to this community they stayed) were Hispanic. I have met few people of the calibre of Jerry and Iliana. That being said, many if not most of the --------- here are illegals who do not even attempt to fit in or modify their behavior in any way. The volleyball court is full of them late into the night drinking beer and talking loudly. Large numbers of migrant workers congregate here after work for a refreshing swim in the pool before returing to their own more sordid accomdations on nearby Buford Hwy. They often swim with their clothes on and socks even, drinking beer in glass bottles and behaving like the hicks they are. On the weekends the smell of starter fluid stings the eyes and pollutes the lungs as the grills of the illegal aliens are fired up on verandas. Let the fiesta begin! The truth is, as a gringo I just don't feel comfortable here sometimes, especially on the weekends. I know these are generally hardworking, humble people but their culture is alien to me (and I lived out of the country for almost 20 years in Asia).

Recently a car was torched and completely burned. It looked like a scene out of Beirut in the 1980's. Another night I heard 4 gun shots at exactly 4 am. Well, whoever it was was punctual anyway.

There is a security patrol at night. If there were not I would hate to think what this place would quickly turn into.

You must think that I hate living here. In fact I do not. These just are not the kind of neighbors I want to have. BuLYzGcKAVo8MQPlcXJq
