A real roach problem...

I moved into a one bedroom apartment about one month ago, and I have already had to have an exterminator come and spray twice. The first night I slept here, when only my furniture and a few boxes had been moved-in, I saw 2 huge roaches within a couple of hours. I assure you it wasn't due to a lack of cleanliness on my part, as I hadn't brought a single piece of food into the unit yet! It took the management about a week to send someone up to spray. Of course, the spraying meant that I found lots of dead roaches all over my kitchen floor every morning. Great way to start my first week in a new place. Then, less than 2 weeks later, I was again finding live roaches. Called management again to report the problem, and was told that "they'd add me to the list," but couldn't give me a date for when they would be able to send someone. It was about 5 days until I saw the exterminator. The last week has only presented dead roaches, but we'll see how long that lasts.
Also, the gate is broken almost every weekend, car break-ins are a persistent problem (you'd think they'd have put security cameras in by now!), and my bedroom window has been missing a screen since the first day I moved in. (Maintenance came up to look at it when I called them that day, but did nothing after promising to come back and replace it. ... It's been five weeks since then.) If you're looking to rent a unit towards the front of the complex, bring some earplugs. The highway is right outside your window.
But the staff is friendly, at least...

This is my one major complaint as well. I don't know if it's the way the apartments are built or the warm climate, but the exterminators are only a temporary solution. They should really try to bring in a bug expert for a day to see if there's anything more they can do because I shouldn't have to spend every night killing roaches. At least it beats watching FOX News propaganda. Otherwise, I think for the price we pay, we get amenities I wouldn't expect, such as a workout room, pool, microwave oven and washer and dryer. The prices are very competitive. For any newcomers, stay away from the Post Properties, they are money grubbers who will nickel and dime you to death.
