Yo!

Not my best experience at an apartment complex

Dunwoody Club is okay, not great but okay. The differences in the prices between their "move in" specials and their "market value" rents are huge, meaning that their market value is over inflated, the difference is hundreds of dollars a month. My rent was a market value of twelve hundred and change, my actual rent is around $950.
The extras that they advertise spend most of their time closed. In the 7 months since I have lived there the indoor pool has been open for a combined generously 2 & 1/2 months, it is constantly being shut down for various reasons. Its entrance is coded and the code is subject to random change, and the only way to obtain the code is a visit to the front office during office hours, while most residents are at work. So good luck swimming after work. The work out room has been open for one week in seven months, it was under "renovation" and I imagine access to this facility will be equally sporadic. These facilities close at ten P.M. if you work late, you won't be able to use them, and they open at ten A.M. so you can't exercise before work. On the plus side they have never shut down the tennis court to my knowledge.
The wiring in my apartment, a townhouse, is terrible. Fuses are constantly being blown, especially if someone uses a hair dryer. Many of the outlets do not work properly, one plug but not the other will work, and this problem is independent of the sockets wired to the light switches. You can see the lights dim and lines run across the TV screen (I have a power conditioner for the TV, which fails to deal with this wide variance in power levels) when the washer or dryer is turned on. This type of "dirty" power is terrible for the life span of any consumer electronics. I have already lost a modem and a router, which were plugged in through a power conditioner.
Additionally there are no outlets in the bathroom.
The heat and a.c. seem to work okay. They hit the bottom floor really well, and do an awful job of hitting all the rooms on the top floor. You may heat/cool one bedroom effectively but not both. On the plus side they are quick to send maintenance when there is a problem. I've had the a.c. go out twice so far, and both times it was fixed in 48 hours.
Parking is ample. The layout of the complex is very complex; expect all your visitors and the pizza man to get lost frequently. The people in the neighborhood all seem pretty great. I have met people all sorts at this complex and they tend to be very neighborly and warm. There are a lot of children in the neighborhood, which can be a plus or a minus depending on who you are. They are mostly well behaved, I haven't heard of any break-ins but some did put broken glass in the pool, which caused one of the many pool closings.
The staff at the office may be friendly if you catch them at the right time, otherwise they seem very put upon to do their jobs or just plain apathetic. They seldom seem to know what is going on, or have answers to your questions, and have to put you on hold for the simplest of questions. They will not return your phone calls if you leave them a message.
Overall I would give this complex a C-, it passes but just barely. The terrible front office staff and the constant closings of the "extras" (which you pay for in your rent) are the main detractors, but the electricity issue is pretty disturbing.
