Once the ink is dry...

on your lease, you become the bastard tennant. Michael Thomas, the property manager loves to promise the world before you sign the lease. After you sign, you become the enemy. The leasing office is usually vacant, so you can pretty much forget about getting to talk to anyone in person if you have concerns. Try leaving a voicemail: it won't be returned. When you do manage to catch Michael in his office, he's usually acting far too busy to be bothered with you.

Maintainance requests can take days to be acknowledged if you make the mistake of leaving a voicemail. At least the maint. guys are friendly and do a good job when needed.

Noise here is terrible. When you tour the property, Michael will carefully tour you around the building, preferably during the day when everyone is away at work. This is so you can't hear everyone's tv's, stereo's, washing machines, a/c units, and sexual activity. Once you live here, you're going to have to listen to it for the term of your lease.

Parking is awful. Cars are selectively towed that don't have parking stickers, but only seems to be when the strange security guard isn't busy sleeping, picking thru trash, or talking to stray animals. Parking along the side of the building has gotten me several door dings, as most tenants are rude and inconsiderate. Parking spots also seem a bit on the small side.

The structure has absolutely no provisions for energy conservation. The windows all leak... both air and water. Single pane glass was definately the norm for early 1900's construction, but these days its surprising that they didn't do something about this. In the winter, the windows ice up and there are terrible drafts. In the summer your a/c unit runs constantly, as it tries to cool the apartment. The same goes for the winter time.

"Controlled Access" seems to only apply to objects larger than a garbage truck. The front gates are damaged, so anyone can walk into the front parking lot. This usually means homeless people, which spend lots of time going thru the trash in the dumpsters. Each of the entry doors has push-button locks, which frequently jam and malfunction. The main entrance for phase two lacks a rain canopy, so you can expect to get soaked in the rain on the many days the locks are broken.

The "fitness center" is a joke. The treadmill is in disrepair, and worse than some $100 machine from Sears. The weight machine is basic, and missing parts. It too is in disrepair. The office does not care. I was attracted to the property for this convenience, but ended up joining a real gym instead, as this equipment is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I count down the months on my lease, so I can move out... This place sucks. aLKeoXpj3s4OSgrp1trb
